I usually take the kids because I'm the socializer and I know all the parents. DH can go do something else that he finds fun, but he'll take them if I have other plans already.

Usually both my husband and I go - it's a chance not only to watch LO play with her friends, but also for us to connect with the other parents in her class.

We see also mostly the same at parties (both parents coming), unless there is an older or younger sibling, and then usually one parent goes to the party and the other stays with the other child.

We've only been to one and it was just me and DD1. It was a daycare friend so we weren't about to ask to bring DD2 and make them pay another admission fee for her. DH had to work so we asked my ILs to babysit.

When your toddler/preschooler goes to birthday parties, who is at the birthday party with the invited kids?

Parties we have been to (daycare kids, at least) seem to have one parent and the child. There is one family who brings their older kid (which I find weird). Ours appears to be the only family that ever has mom and dad there. We both enjoy kid parties and watching our daughter play with her school friends. :)
