We didn't do anything for DD's first birthday just because. However we did take rice crispy treats in for her second (was also on a Sunday but just took them in the Monday following). I'd suggest asking your daycare their policy. Ours allows outside food but you have to notify the teacher of what you are bringing so they can tell the other parents who can opt in/out for their child to participate (usually because of allergies). We were also encouraged to ask the teacher for recommendations on what to bring, as said we brought rice crispy treats but some other things that DD has had for birthdays are cookies or ice cream sandwiches.

I think a lil birthday party at her daycare on Friday is sweet! End the week on a good note and a great kick start to the birthday weekend. Who doesn't love a reason to get all dolled up in cutesy clothes!

At the daycare I worked at I don't think they allowed outside food. @autumnlove: I second the book idea!

Cupcakes aren't allowed at our daycare for any age...they only allow healthy stuff! :-(

Maybe you buy some dollar books from Target?

Today is M's first day at daycare. Yes, I cried.

To make myself feel better I'm pondering whether to bring anything into daycare for her first birthday! Her birthday will be on a Sunday -convenient for party!- so maybe something the Friday before??

Did you bring anything into daycare for your LO's first birthday?
I'm thinking maybe just cupcakes and a cute birthday girl outfit?? Are cupcakes not a good idea for 1 year olds?

I'll be sure to ask her teachers too about allergies.
