I'd like to offer a suggestion that my mom did for my brother who was born Dec 27. She would pick a springish month when the 27th was on a weekend and do a party then. My brother really liked it as he got older because his friends could come, they could do nice weather stuff, and he didn't get all his presents for the year in the same week :) Half birthday was tried too, but summer had the same conflicts. So I would really try to attend just because I know it would mean a lot to my husband. When DH is home and off work, he really likes to avoid scheduling too much so that we can just have lazy and spontaneous days at home. We haven't talked about a party this year, but our early December weekends are already being filled up by other people's parties and celebrations. I fully realize that many people are going to be traveling or otherwise busy, but maybe some people will still be in town? And since it would be school-aged friends, I would assume a parent or guardian is off watching the kid while school is closed (and therefore able to bring their kid to a weekday party). If your child was invited to a birthday party between Christmas and New Year's Eve, would you attend? Or is this just a bad idea in general? If we do anything, it would probably be very small, like 5 kids or less. </p>
