@Jess1483: Thanks for clarifying! Then drinks matter less, but still a small plus not to have to carry them :)

@Greentea: I'd want to bring my own drinks as well, because I'd choose the same things as you, but I think we could relatively cheaply offer one or two kinds of juice, and beyond that, people could bring their own. We also have a seasonal concession stand, so offering soda would be an option in the summer.

@PinkElephant: We are actually an indoor location. We have big roll-up windows in the summer, but are completely indoors.

Interesting. Personally I'd want everything included except party favors and drinks- because I'd want to bring my own healthy/ organic ones which tends not to be the norm.

I voted drinks only - I'd want still/sparkling water, and some sort of "nice" single serving juice option for the kids (100% apple juice boxes or Honest Kids pouches). Mainly because drinks are heavy/a pain to transport yourself to an outdoor location (which it sounds like yours is).

I'd only want paper goods if you offered some options in terms of the color/theme of the paper goods....and I'm sure keeping that on hand or shopping for each party would be expensive or time consuming for your venue, so probably not a great possibility!

@T.H.O.U.: We do have party packages that include some of the extras, so I'm trying to decide what to include in our "basic" package. If we included invites, we could have our marketing company design them, so they'd be pretty awesome, but I know so many people do things last minute/on-line that I don't know if that's really attractive to people (like, someone called last wednesday for a party on Saturday...).

For tablecloths, I'm not sure. I'd need to do some research.

Could you offer an all inclusive package versus a DIY package?

I always wonder what type of invites or tablecloths would be offered. Are they cute carosaul theme or just basic plain colors?

@Jess1483: as much as I like the details and the extras if what you're going for is convenience then include as much as you can afford and still make a profit. Things parents don't want to use they don't have to, and with your price point still low they will still feel like they are receiving great service.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: We do have back-up candles and matches right now, but tell ppl to bring their own. Right now each of our guests also gets a pass to the local Children's Museum (and they offer a ride coupon for us to their party guests--it's mutually beneficial). Thanks for the feedback!

Basic party fee- I'd expect food & drink set up meaning cups and tablecloths.

Drinks would be awesome too! I'd want a choice of lemonade, iced tea (sweet & unsweet), and water.

Candles & lighter for a cake I bring myself would be totally convenient in case I forget them.

Treat bags are a nice to have, but depending on what you fill them with I may choose to bring my own. I like treat bags that are not filled with candy.

Invitations are also a nice to have, but depending on the style I may opt to buy/ create my own. If you offer invites I suggest giving people a couple options to choose from.

Pass for a future visit is also a nice to have, but it wouldn't entice me to choose your venue over another venue. If you put passes in the treat bags for all of the kids though you may increase your visit volume to the Carousel.

@Jess1483: With the playground you're golden! I think adding table cloths and drinks to the price would be great. I usually offer bottled water and juice boxes at LO's bday parties.

Wow! I'm surprised so far. Most of these things to me seem like "add-ons" I'd want to purchase myself/match to my child's specific desires. I'm intrigued that people would rather see them integrated. I'm glad I asked!

@Autumnmama79: It's a bit hard to explain--but I'm fairly confident that for the age we generally attract (most are ages 1-6), no one ends up bored/looking for other things to do. In the summer, though, we do have a playground that's consistently voted best in the city, and that's free to use.

I missed your previous post but the party goers have use of a carousel along with the paying public and thats all? Or are there other things for the kids to enjoy and be entertained with?

Some of you may remember a previous post where I was asking about what you'd expect to pay for a birthday party. I'm working on re-doing our party packages and costs and wondering what appeals most to parents/what you'd want included, versus what people prefer to provide themselves.

We include food at an extra cost, but other than that, which of the following items would you want included in the basic party fee (versus doing them yourself). None of them would bump the cost of our party up much.

(For more background: it's at a carousel, fee includes non-exclusive use of the carousel, includes plates/forks/napkins regardless of whether or not you purchase food through us, parties include a host, balloons for decorations and each child.)

Feel free to elaborate (so, if you choose drinks, what would you want available?)
