We also sang happy birthday to him in the morning, he had special facetime with my mom and we got him an ice cream cake and candle/singing again after dinner time..... </p> <p>With him being 2 I'm not sure he got it.. but he did enjoy all the hoopla!! It's on a Tuesday and I have to work that night so I told him we couldn't do a party on his birthday (which we were able to last year). I asked him if he wanted cake on his birthday or for his party on Saturday. He chose party.<br /> For his birthday we are taking the day off and going to the children's museum. We did it on her first birthday, and now three years later she’s excited for her fourth birthday bc she can’t wait to wake up to balloons everywhere. I love the idea of having that 'special' time with just him and us. After dinner, I put up candles, sing the birthday song, and we blew out the candles, and we all have a slice. I usually buy a balloon for him too each year, but this year I skipped / slacked off... oops</p> <p>This year was tricky, it was 1. on a school day 2. DH was traveling 3. DS had an oral surgery scheduled the very next day, so I wanted it to be as low key as possible. Normally we'd go out for a birthday dinner too. When DS was younger we always did Hibachi.
