@Boogs: yea I definitely wouldn't have thought about this the first go round, but after it all it would be nice to have more to remember the whole process/day by. That's what really sold me on it (even more than the amazing shots)

I think this is so beautiful. It wasn't something for me because I didn't want someone I didn't know well around taking pictures of all my parts. ;) But, after the chaos that my birth was, I somewhat regret not having someone there to take some photos. The first photo we have of our son is one of him in the NICU with wires all over and I wish his first photo was of him right when they cut him out or something a bit more pleasant.

@cyndistar3: I had an epidural so I noticed. I was mostly concentrating on trying not to poo, wondering if I did poo, and hoping I was doing a good job and not being too annoying for a student who was observing and this was her first birth, so I wanted it to be a good one. Crazy I know, but I'm sure a person with a camera would take up even more of my thoughts and attention then that other stuff.

@tana_bk: Considering it will only be DH and my mom here I figured I really should find someone else.... esp since I know I'll need them for support! lol

@artbee: who-ha! LOL... I actually don't want any crowning shots so not really an issue. lol

@mediagirl: Lol... it's kinda like cyndistar was saying... once you get into it you really don't notice who's in and out of the room. But I know plenty of moms that don't ANYONE but their DH in the room so that totally makes sense =)

@blushink: THANKS!!!! I'm really excited for them! And after not remember like ANYTHING from DS's birth 7 years ago I'm sure I'll cherish these even more =)

@SouthPaw: Yep! I'm SOOOOOOOOOO excited! =D

@Mrsbells: For sure! I really don't want any crowning pics. Some of them where you can still see baby coming out but not a full on crowing shot are neat but DEFINITELY don't want anything to "exposing" lol

@cupcakemama: Other than the crowing shots most could be displayed I think.... and I know that when it comes time I won't know what's going on in the room other than me concentrating. lol I couldn't have told you how many nurses were in my room at any given time through labor.... which probably a good thing since I know they were in and out. LOL

Definitely not my thing! Firstly I don't think I would want a non-medical person in the room ( apart from DH!) and secondly, what would I do with the pictures afterwards ?? Display them at home?? Umm, no. I agree with a pp that I would not want to see pictures from my birth of the crowning so I don't know that I would fell comfortable showing LO pictures of when they came out of Mom's hoo-ha.

I just wanted to add tgat if you are worried about them making you feel awkward and self conscious you coyld ask them ahead of time to try to stay in the background because when you are in intenselabor, you will most likely get tunnel vision and not notice a thing going on around you... I swear they could have thrown a party in my room and I wouldn't have noticed because I was too busy focusing on labor.

I've heard of this and it seems to become more and more popular, but it isn't my thing. Sure the pictures are great filled with emotions, but in a moment like giving birth... I don't want someone to snap pics of me. hehe.

OH my gosh. I can't imagine having someone I don't know in the birthing room with us taking picture - especially of the baby crowning!! I guess I'm a pretty private person and think that is something that needs to just be between my husband and me (and the nurses and doctors...) I am going to make my husband learn how to use my camera before the baby comes so he can take some good pictures of the baby after he/she is born. But that's all I need to see. :)

I think the pictures are beautiful... but not for me. I don't love being in front of the camera to begin with, and I think if I had a camera during that moment it would have just made me self conscious. And that's not the feeling I wanted to have while giving birth. I was already so worried about pooing on the table, I didn't need to give myself anything else to worry about!

Also, I don't think I'd want to see a picture of me coming out of my mom's who-ha, so I don't know how I'd feel about showing it to my LO.

I get why people do it and I do think it's beautiful and great to capture such an amazing thing on camera.... but like I said. It's just not for me.

I love birth photography. I think the images are so beautiful. This is definitely something I plan on looking into once I am pregnant. Right now I am thinking of asking my mother and/or mil to take pictures because both of them will be present and are good at photography.

@Mrs.KMM: I know some of them I'd have out... but definitely not all of them. Guess I just like having them so one day I get to show our lo how it was when they came into the world. =)

@rachiecakes: Lol... yea I feel overwhelmed like that all over again, I mean it's been SEVEN years! I know that when that time comes though you aren't really focused on who's around and such... kinda like on the blur of the wedding day. Especially in the hospital, nurses, techs, doctor(s), they're pretty in and out of the room and you just kind of ignore them. lol. I know on our wedding day our photog did a REALLY good job of being like a fly on the wall. Seriously, we have pics where I asked "where the heck was he?.. I NEVER saw him" I figure this will probably be alot like that. lol

The photos are really incredible, beautiful, at the moment I can't imagine having them taken, but I can't imagine any of this actually happening to me either.

Sometimes I think it would be great and beautiful and really capture the experience from beginning to end.

Other times I wonder what I would ever do with them. It isn't like these are the kind of photos you display around your home.

@chopsuey119: The hospitals here don't even allow photography once pushing starts. We'll be at home though so we get to do whatever we want! DH has considering "catching" the baby... he's just doesn't want our friend seeing my stuffs. lol So our photog will be taking pics while I'm pushing... just looking for some above waist/very discreet shots. I've seen some where you don't see "anything" but still see baby coming out (it was a water birth)

@cyndistar3: Since I'll be here at home and DS will be here I'm not planning on being nude.... I've actually already starting looking for things I can wear that will be comfy, not too baggy, and loooooong enough to cover me. lol

@runsyellowlites: when it comes to push time, I don't know about other hospitals, but I was holding my legs up when I pushed and I wanted my husband at the foot of the bed so he could see the baby come out. Figured since he was down there he should take photos :D haha. I wish I could share my photos! They're X rated but so awesome :)

It;s definitely not for everyone! I wouldn't mind more pictures of labor and of the moments right after birth but I personally wouldn't want pictures of the pushing process as by that time last time I was fully nude and I am actually very modest and wouldn't want pictures of that. Though on second thought this next time I really want to give birth in the water and I think that could make for beautiful pictures but I still wouldn't want someone I don't know taking pictures of that lol...

That sounds like an amazing shot! I compromised with DH on the crowning shots b/c the photographer is a male friend of ours.... We know he'll be professional but DH was kinda weird about what he may see. After having DS at the hospital though I got to where I didn't care quite as much, considering the numerous people, nurses, etc in and out of the room. lol

My husband has a professional camera and took pictures during my labor and I'm so glad he did! He got the most amazing photos of my baby crowning, and of her actually coming out into the world. There's this one shot where there's a wave of amniotic fluid gushing out after my OB pulled my LO out. Sounds weird, but looks SO cool. :)

After seeing a post on another forum awhile back on l&d photography I decided to look into it. At first it seemed kind of odd, but the more I found the more I fell in love with the one-of-a-kind emotion captured.

SOOOOOOOOOOO... after lots of looking at other photographers I called up our friend who did our wedding photography and ran the idea by him. I am SO glad that he's on board and for only 500 bucks (coverage AND a dvd of images)

For me, getting those moments captured is really important to... especially to have in the years to come. With DS 7 y/o already I can say that there's just alot of his birth that I don't remember =/ and would love to be able to have more from this one and our future ones.
sidenote: I already said I personally don't want any crowning shots. lol

I know that alot of moms wouldn't like this (especially with the whole pushing aspect) BUT I know that there are others who just don't know about it so I thought I'd post a couple photographers that I've found that do it to give an idea of what it's like. =)
