So I would not feel comfortable going on a round of antibiotics just for a bite that was immediately cleaned and kept clean. Standard procedure is for teachers to wash/clean &amp; bandage a bite, so I'd assume it was clean. I think antibiotics are often over prescribed, and usually unnecessary. We had one like this (on the leg, through pants) and we just watched it to make sure it healed okay. There was actually a chunk of skin bit out of her finger. They cleaned the wound and let him rest and it didn't bother him, even though the site looked pretty bad. They took it very seriously and talked to the kid's parents.
