I believe you. I'm really sensitive to the coffee we have at work. I cannot drink it at all or I get over caffeinated, almost dizzy, and then crash hard. I can drink Starbucks or drip coffee at home just fine. Too bad we don't have DD here or I would test theirs out.

Are you always getting a drip or always espresso drinks? I think drip coffee has more caffeine than an espresso drink?

My daughter is really sensitive to caffeine so I totally sympathize. I had a 1/4 caffeinated cup of coffee yesterday and she went to bed an hour later than usual and she spent 30 minutes screaming before finally going down for her final nap (which only lasted 29 minutes!). So I'm not trying any more caffeine for at least a couple more months. :bummed:

according to this, DD is one of the lower ones? so I'm still confused lol. she doesn't react the same way to starbucks - that's one of the only places I can get away with grabbing iced occassionally (or a frap mainly!)

Could be the sugar?? DD puts a TON of sugar into their coffee if you ask for sugar. Some other places are not so sugar-overloaded

Different coffees have different levels of caffeine, so it could totally be brand-related.

@sorrycharlie I could be wrong, but I think iced coffee is made with stronger coffee to counter the ice melting into the coffee and watering it down. Maybe LO is reacting to more caffeine?

@twodoghouse: weirdly, I can't really do iced either. so maybe it's somehow related? more caffeine in iced, than hot? I'll have to see if I can somehow find that info somewhere.. I would think starbucks would have more caffeine, too.

Maybe it's the levels of caffeine? I will say that I can't stomach iced coffee either. It makes me jittery and dizzy. I have no idea why!

I would truly think this is psychosomatic if I didn't keep a specific log. If I drink dunkin donuts or honey dew coffee (two chains near me in New England), my daughter is up ALL. NIGHT. screaming. If I drink Starbucks, she does not. If I brew certain k cups, she does not (I think..I actually haven't thought to track that, but I plan to).

It actually seems to be more so iced coffee than hot (for instance, iced DD is a sure fire bad night. hot coffee I don't think always bothers her).

is this even possible? it makes no sense to me. I definitely do not have a starbucks budget! It's so frustrating to not be able to grab an iced coffee or something while I'm out, but it's not worth the screaming.

for example - we were in disney all last week. I got starbucks in the parks (the nescafe is just disgusting). one day we stayed at the resort, so I grabbed a kona cafe iced coffee against my better judgment. who was up all night with a horrible stomachache? the baby. gah. I felt awful :(

just curious if I'm nuts, or if anyone else has noticed something like this..
