This is crazy, I just made black bean brownies last night! I used leftover dried beans that I'd cooked for a different dish, and baked from scratch. This is the recipe I used:
http://www.serenabakessimplyfromscratch.com/2013/01/fudgy-black-bean-brownies.html

They came out rather dry for my taste but I think I overmixed the batter. You can't taste the beans at all, and the recipe yielded a lot, a whole 9x13 pan. I don't have much of a sweet tooth so this batch should last us at least a week.

For a healthier (vegan, gluten-free!) version, check out this recipe from Happy Herbivore!: http://happyherbivore.com/2009/05/vegan-blackbean-brownies/

Nutritional Info: 85 calories, 1g fat, 16g carbs, 4g protein (without optional sugar)

Recipe:Black Bean Brownies
Prep time: 10 min | Cook time: 30 min | Total: 40 min | 9 servings

Description
Dense, fudge-y and ultra-healthy, these brownies are a great alternative to traditional brownies! It's amazing how they taste like chocolate and fudge and not beans! Chef's Notes: Rolled oats run through the food processor may substituted for the instant oats. Use optional sugar if your bananas are still green and not very ripe.

Ingredients
15 ounces black beans, drained and rinsed
2 whole bananas
⅓ cup agave nectar
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
¼ cup raw sugar (optional)
¼ cup instant oats

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease an 8x8" pan and set aside. Combine all ingredients, except oats, in a food processor or blender and blend until smooth, scrapping sides as needed. Stir in the oats and pour batter into the pan. Bake approximately 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool before slicing. Chef's Note: if you find these brownies are too soft or too fudge-y, add another 1/4 cup oats or flour.

Ooh I want to try these too! I think they'd be great. I love the Asian pastries with bean paste so I could see how these would be good.

Have you ever tried "no pudge" brownies? All you do is mix the powder mix they give you with vanilla yogurt! Nothing else. I've never tried it with any other brand than the actual "no pudge" brand but its excellent! You'd never know they aren't regular brownies. They have a single serve microwave option too.

Here is an actual recipe:

http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=986481

Ingredients

    1 Box Brownie Mix
1 Can 15 oz Black Beans

Directions

Drain and rinse beans. Place back in can, then fill can with water. Dump can in blender or food processer and puree. In a mixing bowl, mix together dry brownie mix with pureed beans. Pour in pan prepared per back of brownie mix. Be sure the mix is poured in as evenly as possible: because of the thickness of the batter, it will not level out during baking. Bake in oven according to directions on brownie mix. You may need to bake a little longer to cook through. Makes 16 servings.

@looch: @Dandelion: If you get a good box of mix (like ghiradelli) you can't taste them at all. They are really moist so the consistency is a bit different, but you can't taste the black bean flavor.

Do it as a test and don't tell them! I don't really like black beans either and I love these!

Have you ever made these? Omg they are so good. All you do is take a can of black beans, rinse them out and fill the can up with water. Blend the beans down and when smooth mix with a box of brownie mix (the better the mix the better they come out). Bake like normal!

I'm sure they aren't super healthy but if you have a chocolate desire, they do the trick
