We had a “bay window” rod (or whatever it would be called lol...that curved around) in our bedroom at our old house. It wasn’t super expensive (amazon) and wasn’t hard to install (DH did it) and we hung regular black out curtains on them!

@bhbee: My parents have the same as the previous poster, straight rod hung above the window opening. I never even knew curved rods were a thing.

I used to live in a house with a bay window. There was a regular (straight) curtain rod attached to the wall above the window. It's one of those double rods where you can put a sheer curtain on one rod and a blackout curtain on the other one.

Installation was a bit of a pain because the curtain came from a "fancier" shop and the rod attached to the ceiling, but it would have worked just as well with a long curtain rod attached to the wall.

What about black out blinds? That’s what we have in the kids rooms with blackout curtains on top

We’ve tried to avoid doing this but our toddler is killing us on re-training sleep right now ... she’s been sleeping in this room a year without it being a problem but maybe now we need all the help we can get, especially with summer coming. Also long term her older sister may move back in there and would be nice for her to have it darkened also, so while I may tape up trash bags tomorrow I’d love something permanent!

The windows are something like 72” tall and 35” wide (not exact). Right now they have blinds installed and then we have a decorative curtain above but it’s not on a rod. Do I need to try to install one of those special bay window rods? Is there another type of solution that might work?

I’m not even really sure how to describe the problem so clearly I need help :silly:
