@HLK208: That's so nice and peaceful. I guess we'll just have to use sleep sacks for a while!

@Beehive: DD doesn't move in her crib...it's just the type of sleeper she is. Once she gets comfortable on her tummy, she's in the same spot all night so a blanket doesn't really move.

How would a blanket work? LO is all over the crib (he uses every inch of that crib, we never know where we'll find him when we look on the monitor) - at a certain age do they stop moving around so much?

We use an A+A musy (smaller version) in M's crib for naps and bedtime. It's super lightweight and small enough that I don't need to worry about suffocation or entanglement since he moves a lot in his sleep.

DD has had a blanket since she was 10 months. I worried at first but then after a few nights I realized she was fine :) she loves it now. And she will go get it and bring it to me when she's ready for bed

We started using an AA drem blanket around 10 months. It is totally breathable even though it is 4 layers. Also, since it is thick, it can't really get wrapped around a child tight enough to be worrisome.

I started covering my daughter with a light blanket when she moved to her floor bed at 8 months. Mostly just her legs. Now that she's a toddler she just has normal blankets and sheets.

We used a crocheted blanket since it has "holes" starting at 6.5 months when we swaddle weaned. Sometimes C woke up because he lost the blanket but usually his movements weren't an issue.

DH and I were just having this discussion tonight regarding our 12 month old. I'm not worried about it being breathable as I have confidence that she would move it off her face if she couldn't breathe, but my worry is her getting tangled up in it and accidentally strangling herself. We put a small one in her cot tonight but I'm going to be checking a lot to make sure it hasn't somehow ended up around her neck!

@HLK208: She shuffles / crawls up the bed most nights but I'm yet to find her further under the blankets.

I only use natural fibres for LO's bedding and her blanket is tucked under the end of the mattress so she can't pull it up.

Our kids used crochet and knit blankets from birth til recently at 10 mo when we went back to sleep sacks. I think it would be fine. I never worried about them suffocating, but they aren't really old enough to connect to pull it back over themselves if cold.

Alternative might be one of the sleep sacks with holes for their feet? Halo makes them.

p has been using one from when he was 8 months old, its a crocheted one so it has breathable "holes" in it which is great for piece of mind!

We have an A&A blanket within reach during naps. At night we use fleece jammies, so he doesn't need anything else. Our ac is a pretty consistent temp at night.

I used a crocheted blanket w/holes on B at 5 months while we were traveling in a cold climate. I think the key is either lightweight or holes....plenty of breathing room.
We live in FL, so no need for blankets or even sleep sacks but I would have no issues with one.

Lately E hates her sleep sack. She kicks and stretches which tugs on her shoulders and makes her uncomfortable. We draped a blanket over her for her nap the other day and she slept longer than usual, she did the same today too.

Is it okay to have a blanket on a 12 month old during the night? I should probably ask the ped but wanted to see what you guys think.
