I'm not allowing a blanket in the crib until 6 months and I've made that clear to my daycare provider. It's hard because LO loves to snuggle into any blanket and it helps her fall asleep, but in my mind safety is first in this case!

I think I may need to send a sleep sack, that seems like a good solution. Thanks all!

We still swaddle for night-time sleeping, but not during the day (knowing that daycare wouldn't do it).

LO's room has 16 babies with 4-6 workers in the room at any given time. I don't think they are really able to keep a close eye on any one baby in the crib, not like I would anyways. The day I saw the blanket on her it was on her face, which is why I said something... it kind of freaked me out.

We started off with a sleep sack but switched to a regular blanket around 6 months. She uses a AA blanket in warmer months and uses a thin Lands Ends blanket right now.

I would send a sleep sack (since that is what she uses at home), we're not using loose blankets yet either. I wouldn't fuss about others kids, but I would about my own.

I understand your concerns. Our daycare does the same.

My son started daycare at 5.5 months. I allowed him a blanket there at 6 months. Not a popular parenting choice, but I was comfortable with the fact that he would move the blanket away from his face then if he needed to. At home he sleeps in a sleep sack. 4 months seems a little young though....

I wouldn't trust that daycare teachers are watching sleeping babies carefully even if they are in the same room. I would not want a blanket in the crib and in fact our daycare does not allow it. We swaddled her still when she started daycare and we couldn't even use A+A blankets for a swaddle, they required us to get the sleep sacks with the swaddle attached.

If they want to snuggle with a blanket as a lovey our daycare will let them have it in the crib but it is tied in a knot so they can't pull it over their face.

I totally understand your concerns and think as mom you have every right to ask them not to. That said, if they're watching her carefully and in the same room it is probably ok? O loves to snuggle with a blanket and is 4.5 months, I put one on her from chest down after she falls asleep. With the video monitor I can see that she's ok.

They use sleepsacks at my daycare until the baby is six months old and then you can switch to blankets if you choose. They are not allowed to swaddle. I would probably bring in a sleepsack for them to use.

They put a blanket on LO at daycare. It's breathable and they keep a close eye on them so it doesn't bother me. But I understand your concern.

I've wondered about this. I think we had blankets when I worked at a daycare. I don't think we were allowed to swaddle either.

LO is 4 months. Our daycare told us we could bring a blanket for her crib for naps. I never brought one in because we don't let her sleep with one at home and I'm concerned about the SIDS risk.

I've noticed a thin receiving blanket in her crib a few times. On Monday she was asleep and had the blanket on her. I mentioned to her caregiver that I don't want blankets & she said she wouldn't do it anymore.

All the other babies seem to have blankets in their cribs though. And almost all are under a year old. Am I missing something? Making a big deal out of something that's not?
