@PinkElephant: Definitely! I’d hate to have random spotting and bleeding. I’ll discuss it with my OB.

@cake2017: mine was Jolivette as well. It's kind of a blur, but I think my random bleeding/heavy periods started pretty immediately. I think the mini-pill is a typical prescription for new moms who are planning to breastfeed, so maybe let your doctor know your concern and see what other options he/she offers you.

@cake2017: mine was Jolivette. And it started for me when my period returned, which was 4 months for DS1 and 10 months for DS2. Up until then I didn’t have any problems with it. Maybe that’s obvious but I didn’t want to give the impression that you might start bleeding biweekly immediately

@JennyPenny: @PinkElephant: @Jess1483: Following. I plan to ask to be put on the minipill at my 6 week appointment. Is this common because of a certain brand? What a headache... If you ladies don’t mind sharing which one you were prescribed?

@Jess1483: I also had crazy irregular bleeding on the minipill after baby #3. I was so frustrated. I saw my doctor and I went back to a regular monophonic pill and don’t get a period while taking it (even the placebos).

@JennyPenny: thank you! That’s super helpful. We are sure we are done (DH has a vasectomy scheduled for August). If the bleeding continues, maybe I’ll ask about alternatives until we know the vasectomy has “taken.” Good to know it’s common, if unpleasant.

With my first I had bleeding basically every other week while on the minipill. With my second the same started again and I posted a question here and heard that it was pretty common. I ended up quitting the minipill and I didn't get a period again until 2 months later and then it was perfectly regular and I was able to avoid pregnancy with charting.

My LO is 10 weeks old. I've been on the minipill since 6 weeks pp. My period started a week later (well, bleeding heavy enough to be a period.) This part isn't unusual--I've started 2 months pp with all three kiddos. It lasted about a week. Then I had about a week without bleeding and now it has started again--still quite heavy. I do not recall this kind of bleeding when I started the minipill with my first two. Any insight? Is this common? If I call my doc, I'm pretty sure she'd have me come in, which is fine if I need to, but if it's common and/or expected, Id rather not. Just looking for insight before I call.
