@Emsmems: I'm really excited to hear that you love your Hunter Douglas shades! We had a large window measured yesterday for roman shades by Hunter Douglas and I'm so excited for them!

@Emsmems: We have the same ones, and I like them since they can open from the bottom up or the top down. But we still have curtains too, because I feel like a room looks more finished with curtains.

i bought cheap ones from lowes for our bedroom but they look great, and blackout ones that look similar from selectblinds for the kids' rooms. they really do a great job of blocking out light!

I have custom roman shades from JC Penney in all of our rooms except our bedroom (so far.) We only have 1 standard sized window in our house - in the bathroom. Our sliding glass door has the blinds sandwiched in between glass and i love them.

I have different stuff in different parts of the house.

In our living room, which faces the street, we have bamboo blinds. In our bedrooms, we have thermal cordless roman shades.

I personally don't like mini blinds unless they're the kind that are sandwiched between the glass.

We got ours at Home Depot. The fake wooden white ones. Only the 2" would fit. One day we want plantation shudders.

We have plantation shutters in our whole house and I luuuurve them. I don't know if that's in the same realm as blinds but they're awesome! I feel like even though they were pricey, they made things so much easier bc I never had to worry about drapes or anything. They look really nice on their own.

Our house already had Hunter Douglas window treatments that are sooo nice! I don't think we would have been able to afford to put them in, and I don't know what your budget is like, but they are awesome! Color doesn't really matter in their case, they are just light white and sheer.

We have someone coming out today to give an estimate on blinds for our new house! I'm so excited to get them in - I'm already sick of the lack of privacy without them and we've only been living here since Thursday. :silly:

What kind of blinds do you have? Do you like/would you recommend them?

We have dark wood trim in this house and it's making me a little unsure how to proceed with blinds. If you had dark trim, what would you do?
