@Silva: I think I might have to throw my scale out! It's stressful worrying about it!

@PrincessBaby: I'm glad to hear yours slowed down! I was completely shocked that I had put on a few pounds so early!

@Smurfette: Yeah, I'm about to get back into my next size up pants, because good grief my current pants are tight! Good thing I saved my pants from my weight loss!

I had a lot of bloating but no weight gain in the first tri. The third trimester was where things went downhill for me lol but that isn't necessarily the norm.

@Bookworm: I feel like I gained weight FAST in the first tri! I definitely immediately put on a few lbs and also dealt with crazy bloating! But it all ended up slowing down and becoming normal...I'd gained 26 lbs I think at my 36 week appt....

I did bloat in the first tri but I never actually gained any weight in the first tri.

The bloating is awful during the 1st trimester. It does get better towards the end of it. My pants weren't fitting at all even though I only gained a couple pounds by 8 weeks. It was crazy.

Best advice, don't be shy about getting a belly band or wearing maternity pants! Not worth being uncomfortable.

yes! but by the time I got to my 12 week appt I had gained only 3 pounds. I had a hard time fitting into pants, but it was definitely just bloating. It got better around week 9 or 10 maybe. Sounds like you are being healthy, so try not to worry about it.
I think the weight gain balances out over time. I stopped weighing myself completely, so I just get checked at the dr's office now. And I stress less!

Hey bees!

I'm going to be 6 weeks on Monday, and I'm starting to be a bit concerned about the weight I've gained in the last week. I've kept my activity level up, and added probably 300 cals of orange juice/milk a day (I was on a restricted-cal diet before, so now I'm having closer to 1800-1900 a day).

Despite that, my pants are tight and I've gained almost 4 pounds! Did any of y'all have crazy bloating/water weight (which is what I assume this is) in the first trimester? Did it settle down and start to resemble normal weight gain?

Thanks! :]
