I had a pulmonary embolism (blood clot that hits the heart/lungs) that originated it my legs. It really doesn't sound like that's what's going on with you. Mine was a very severe throb/ache with a swollen leg (I didn't know what it was, and ignored until the clot threw). You're probably fine but if you see any swelling (one leg larger than other) and especially if you feel any pressure in your chest, insist your doctor take it seriously!

Definitely sounds like you strained the ligament. @lawbee11: is correct that blood clots mostly occur in the calf.

@Mrs. Pickle: you're a paranoid FTM, step away from Google! :P

Really though, it's very unlikely that its a blood clot if you're walking. I went on bed rest and a week or so into it I had a pain (but in my arm) that I mentioned to a dr and said the same thing you said, and he told me it was highly unlikely that I would develop a clot, and I shouldn't worry about it, even though it'd been over a week of laying in bed.

Hope you have a nice trip!

Thanks for the responses! I'm feeling much less paranoid now. I'll keep an eye on it and if it swells or gets red I'll call.

@Mrs. Pickle: If you're that worried about it you should definitely call (that's what the doctor is there for!) For what it's worth, I had all kinds of leg pain throughout pregnancy...I would get calf cramps that hurt so badly they'd wake me up screaming in pain. Your legs do so much work during pregnancy that these pains are probably normal! Hang in there.

Could it be something with the ligament? When you're pregnant all that stuff loosens up. I remember my hips killing me after a simple bike ride, and it was totally my joints loosening up.

I think it's good that you're aware, but if you don't have swelling or redness it's probably a muscle or ligament strain. My DH had a huuuuuge blood clot in his disabled leg, where it swelled up unbelievably large. There was no mistaking something was wrong.

@Mrs. Pickle: I think it's probably nothing, especially since you went on a long walk yesterday....that could totally explain it. Maybe ice it and see how it feels in the morning? If the pain is worse or it's swollen/red in the morning then call?

ETA: I also think I remember reading from when I was pregnant that most blood clots occur in the calf. So I think your knee is an unlikely spot for one (but I'm def not a doctor or expert!).

Someone tell me I'm a paranoid FTM to be and need to step away from Dr. Google! :p

I woke up this morning with a deep pain on the side of my right knee. It's in a small area. I'm worried it could be a blood clot. My leg isn't swollen or red, nor is it hot. I only have the pain. DH thinks I either slept wrong or that it's sore because I went on a long walk yesterday. Should I call the doctor in the morning? We're going out of town Monday for a week and I don't want to be worrying the entire time that something is wrong.
