M had blood in her stool and was diagnosed with MSPI. She never had it again after switching to hypoallergenic formula. I'm not sure what to make of your LOs other symptoms though. Have you called your pedi's office in addition to going to the ER? I would make sure that they are involved and see if they want to follow up in the office today.

Hugs! It's so scary to be a mom sometimes :(

Very likely could be food intolerances. My LO had blood in her stool for a while until we sorted out all her intolerances and got them totally out of my system. But the vomit and the paleness are more concerning to me. Just watch him closely and take him in if you get at all worried that something is wrong.

@Mrs squirreld: (((hugs))) we've had blood in DS's stool but it was definitely due to constipation issues.
do you think it could be an allergy?
I think the best thing you can do is just keep a close eye on him and see what the doctor's think after his next one.

Blood in poop in our experience was b/c of dairy and soy protein allergies which my oldest outgrew at 15 months. I completely avoided all dairy and soy for 8 months while I nursed him; and then was reading labels like crazy after that b/c there are so many foods that have dairy and soy and you would not know it. Even restaurants use soy bean oil so you have to be aware of that too.

The vomiting could possibly be part of the allergic reaction as well. I remember my oldest would spit up often and projectile vomited one time as well. That's usually a pretty good sign of food allergies if you're nursing. My oldest saw his ped, allergist, and GI specialist and all tests came back negative but he was still breaking out in eczema and the blood was persistent for two weeks even if I wasn't able to see it. They can still come back positive for blood even if you don't see it. I remember bringing in stool samples often the first two weeks. His ped's office just wanted to make sure it was completely gone. Losing blood in any kind of way isn't good, especially since he was only 8 weeks old. They all still came to the conclusion he was dairy and soy protein allergic. Once it took my system to get rid of all dairy and soy (could take up to two weeks) my son started to clear up and with some help of Aquaphor and steroid cream on the worse areas he was looking much better!

Hang in there... it might take a couple of weeks to figure it out but be persistent if you feel his ped isn't doing much. Hopefully it's just an allergy and nothing super serious.

HUGS! We never had blood in poop but they looked for it all the time, it's a sign of MSPI? I would for sure schedule an appointment with your doctor just to be safe and see if they will check again. I have never had good experiences with ER treatment for things like tis, our doctor is much more understanding (we dealt with blood in vomit and took her to hospital & they sent us home after 5 minutes...)

@Mrs squirreld: did you also call your Ped to update them on the situation? My LO has had blood in her stools a few times (all in the same week), which later led to her being diagnosed with MSPI based on that, her skin rashes, and the fact that the blood stopped when I stopped eating dairy and soy 100%.

BUT, the blood in the urine...I have no clue about that. Definitely take the next bloody diaper in to your doctor (that's what I did). I also took pictures of the diaper when it was fresh, as blood gets darker when it dries and is harder to see. They tested the stool for blood anyway, and it came back positive, but I was still glad I had the picture as "backup".

Seriously can't stop worrying. Sigh.

A few weeks ago E had blood in his urine and had tests and there was no infection etc. this afternoon I changed him and he had blood in his poop. :-( he also went very pale and vomited a few minutes before that poop. He seemed to be his normal happy self after that but we went to emergency anyways as I was really worried. Doctors sent us home to await another poop and to come back if there is blood.... It's nighttime here now so he might not poop for another 12hours.... It's going to be a loooong night.

Anyone had a similar issue?
I really hope he is ok?

:-(
