@skipra: awww poor baby! But glad that’s all it was! I feel like it was ears you would see crusty nastiness around his ears. I’d be generous with the baby ibuprofen.

Well I didn't call the doctor to check his ears because he has no symptoms of an ear infection and when I got s good look in his mouth I could see that his gums were most likely bleeding. Poor baby. I have never seen a molar cut through so fast. He has been working on it for ages but as of last weekend you could just feel it under the gums and now it's almost fully through except a small spot in the middle. No wonder why he was crabby and bloody! Yikes.

Happened to us when DD1 cut her molars. I went in to get her in the morning and she had blood around her mouth and a little on the sheet. It freaked me out but apparently it's completely normal when the molars finally pop through.

@cake2017: I was hoping everyone would say teeth but now that I know it might be his ears I will call in the morning.

@Iced Tea: @Foodnerd81: oh I had no idea! I'll have to check it out! He has had 2 ear infections and was inconsolable both times but maybe it's just a mild one, if that's even a thing?

@IRunForFun: sometimes he gets scratches on his ear so I did look and didn't see anything. Ill look again in the morning.

@Mama Bird: no gnawing but he did just have a molar cut through so I'm hoping it's just that. I was kind of hoping for a lot of people to say the same thing happened with teething. It was my guess since he was crying and slobbering today when I found it but I was looking to see if it's a common thing. I didn't see blood in his mouth but it does look puffy and irritated.

My friend had that happen once, kind of a lot of blood, and she never figured out what it was but it stopped. Weird.

I have the dr. Mom otoscope! I can look in my 4 year olds ears and tell when they are red or clear! My 2 year old won’t let me look closely enough- yet. (Not that red necessarily means an infection but it does tell me her ears are bothering her).

@skipra: I would wonder about an ear infection as well. Maybe if it happens again tonight check his ears to see if there's any dried blood?

I hope it's nothing! Has he been gnawing on teethers? DS once gnawed so much his gum started bleeding. It was quite a bit of blood. He wasn't in bed, but I can see how this could have happened if he did it right before bedtime.

Could there be an ear infection going on? That’s the only time I’ve found weird stuff on sheets.

We already have a humidifier running in the room and in the hallway just outside. It could be, I suppose but when we've had even just a little blood from the nose with my older son you could tell. His nose has been 100% clear.

@skipra: My friend's baby nose bled a few drops one night during winter once due to lack of humidity. She put a humidifier in the room and it stopped. Might be the issue?

Last night when I put my 18 month old to bed I found some blood on the sheets where his head was the previous night. It was one spot larger than a quarter and then about 3 or 4 smaller spots. Nothing this morning but he cried a bit when I put him down for his nap and when I went back in the room there were two small blood spots.
Does anyone have a guess what it could be from? No bloody noses and he had boogers streaming down his face from crying that were completely clear. Could it be from teething? He is cutting a molar right now but with 3 kids and all their teeth I've never found blood on the sheets. I normally wouldn't worry but the first time was quite a bit and now it's happened more than once.
