Thanks @marionberry: I didn't get the notification or I would have responded earlier.

What was your BP prior to being pregnant? Prior to pregnancy mine was 120/80 pretty consistently (even at a routine appt in Jan 2011). About 1/2 way through, I had a day that was high around 139/89 but still below the cut off. I was offered BP meds but we decided to monitor and if it went above the cutoff of 140/90 consistenly to supplement with meds. Well I did fine for the next 15 weeks or so and then at 35 it was very high 150/92, I was swollen (I'd been the entire time) and my mw began to worry it was pre-e. Actually she was almost certain it was. I went on labetalol twice a day and it doesn't control it very well but if I go in right after I take the pills its under 140/90 and it always goes down when I lay down. We've ran the 24 hr urine and the bloodwork 3 time and both have always come back normal, so it is just chronic high blood pressure. The process is bi-weekly appts with a fetal stress test and a week fluid monitoring. I chose based on a recommendation from my mw to be induced at 39+3 (tuesday!) so that they can monitor my BP the entire time. If you have any other questions let me know. I realize this has gotten long.

Yes, mine was rising in the upper 20's weeks wise, then again at labor. I found that when I was making afternoon ob appointments, my BP was a lot higher, probably because I was stressed making it to my appointments on time from work. I started going in the mornings and it stayed nice and low. I did have to go to weekly monitoring and do a 24 hour urine catch, but they never diagnosed pre-e.

This happened to me at 32 weeks. The first time I went over my ob's threshold I had to do the 24 hours urine test and drop it off at the hospital for monitoring to rule out pre-e. Then weekly I had a ob appointment one day and a non stress test a few days later.
I agree with everyone's suggestions on buying a BP cuff and taking it at home. I had to do that and keep a record for my OB. It helped me to know ahead of appointments where I was and not get stressed before an appointment. Stress and worry will work against you. so hard as it is, try not to worry!
I would have been induced at 39 weeks, but my water broke at 37 weeks and a few days and everything worked out fine.

Have you tried cal-mag supplements or epsom salt soaks? The magnesium is good to help bring b/p down... we used this for me when my b/p got around 150/90 & it brought it/kept it down really well. :)

I have PIH and had it with my last pregnancy as well.

I had to get induced on my due date due to the hypertension.

I'm 28 weeks and my BP is generally 145/65-70 at my appointments. I am on 50 mg of Atenalol a day.

I had one appt with high bp and had to be monitored biweekly until we could prove it wasn't preeclampsia. I think @jetsa: would be a great person to talk to because she's had consistently high bp.

I also would always get nervous that my BP would be high which would make it high! When my doc would take it again at the end of my appointment it would be back down to normal range.

I'm 34 weeks and my bp has been a little higher than that every week since 30 weeks. My dr has me coming weekly and he just keeps an eye on it. I don't have any other systems, I feel fine, so he isn't worried. We had a scare Thursday night ( thought my water broke--=nope just peed on myself) but when we went in to get checked my bp was all over the place. Finally it stabilized, meaning I stopped freaking out and we were fine.

Good luck!

I have white coat hypertension and my BP was always higher at my midwife's office. I monitored it at home with a cuff that we made sure was calibrated with my midwife's and she used my at-home readings instead of the in-office ones.

I would suggest monitoring at home and if it's still high there then you have cause for concern.

During my last 5 weeks or so my bp went up and up. They sent me to l&d for monitoring twice. They let me go home after they were sure lo wasn't in distress and my bp went down. They wanted to induce but I convinced them to wait until my due date. I had to go in twice a week until the end for bp test and non-stress test. Physically I felt fine and lo was never in distress. I was induced the day before my due date and ended up with a c-section 2 days later after failure to progress. I t was scary at the time but it ended up fine. Good luck to you!

My BP was always a little higher at the OB's office. I bought a BP cuff and tested at home every morning and it was fine. Do you have a BP cuff? Try testing at home and see what it is.

I am now 32 weeks and at the last few appointments my blood pressure has been creeping upwards and it is starting to worry me. At my last appointment it was 136/78 which is precariously close to the cut off. Anyone had this? I am stressing about it and want to be mentally prepared for what this may mean!
