7dpo is the "sweet spot", but anytime between 5-9 should be just fine.

@owlteach: they're just testing your progesterone level to make sure you ovulated. I think within a couple of days it won't matter, as long as it's roughly halfway through your luteal phase.

Do you track your BBT? That will confirm your ovulation date.

Last month was our 6th month trying, 1st month using OPK's. According to the tests I O'd on CD 17, but started my period on what would have been CD 28, so I had a shorter than normal luteal phase. My OB said they wanted to run blood tests to check hormone levels 8 days after I ovulated.

I got a a darkish, but not positive test, on the evening on CD 11 and then nothing the next morning. It had been getting progressively darker each day. I called, explained, and the had me scheduled to go in tomorrow for a blood draw. I asked if I needed to keep testing and the nurse said no. Well, I did anyways and got a very obvious positive on CD 15. Of course that lands the test when we are going to be out of town, so they just moved it up 2 days instead of having me do the blood tests elsewhere.

Any one have any advice or experience with this? I just don't want to waste a month or a procedure, even if it is a simple blood draw. I don't want to have them just tell me, well this is what we think, but it could be off because we did test early, etc.
