@regberadaisy: This continues to sound *very* similar to the beginning of my labor. Sounds like you lost your mucous plug, and you're experiencing the "bloody show". I was also extremely worried that it wasn't normal, b/c nobody told me you could bleed so much during labor... especially during early labor! I'm not a medical professional though, so if you're concerned about the amount of blood, then you should definitely call your doctor. I ended up at the OB's office once and at the hospital once before giving birth b/c I was concerned about the amount of blood that I was losing. Of course, they told me each time that it was fine, and it was just bloody show.

Are you having any contractions? Good luck!!

Today I had mucousy discharge again this time tinged red.
The mucus has slowly decreased and just now it has turn to more blood with VERY little mucus.

Is this normal???

I've already called my OB once today for another issue and don't want to call her again if I don't have to!

my doctor stripped my membranes yesterday and told me that it is possible to have more bloody mucus. so it sounds like it's from the exam.

Thanks Ladies!
@Nskillet: For me it was only slightly more uncomfortable than the previous cervical checks?
I have also been neurotically checking! haha even during the 6 middle of the night pees to the point where I turn on the night. haha

To me it sounds like your mucous plug and/or bloody show. But I'm sure your OB could also be correct, and it's just from your cervical exam. As long as you're not bleeding large amounts of red blood, you should be fine. I had a constant (and fairly heavy) flow of bloody mucous during the 3 days before DD was born. Twice I got it checked out b/c I was scared of placental abruption, but I was told every time I was checked out that it was just normal bloody show. Go figure. For me the blood did indicate the start of labor, so be on the lookout for contractions. Good luck!!

I didn't have a bloody show and I got my membranes stripped. I think at this part of the pregnancy... as long as it's not increasing in blood you are fine. Many times blood can be part of the mucous plug too.

@regberadaisy: did you have pain from stripping?

I've heard everything about bloody show from what you're describing to a huge booger/jellyfish kinda thing to women not even noticing it.

All I know is I've been neurotically checking TP and toilet after I waddle there each time lol

It sounds like it could be part of your mucous plug/cervical exam... It doesn't sound like placental abruption, which like winniebee said, would be much more than just discharge and would probably be bright red blood too.

You're getting closer to delivering! Hang in there!!

Almost there! Hang in there! As @winniebee: said, if it was a placenta abruption, I would imagine lots more blood and more frequent discharge.

I feel like so much is "normal" at the end of pregnancy, it's hard to tell. But I would imagine that placental abruption is like lots of blood. You're getting SO close!

Last night right before bed (tmi) I went to wipe and there was brown tinged mucusy discharge. There was a good amount...two wipes worth at least? I thought for sure it was the "bloody show"
So of course I had to look it up. Saw on WhatToExpect that if it's more than 2 tbsp it "may" be placenta abruption if accompanied with abdominal pains. Which some of you know i have been having cramping last 2 days.

I laid there for 10 minutes and decided to call my OB. Got a return call and she thinks it's just from my exam that morning. Yesterday morning I did have a cervix exam and they stripped my membrane.

This morning I had the same discharge again twice.

The office called me back this morning to follow up and make sure everything is OK. I told them I had discharge again this morning. She thinks it's from the exam.
Now my husband and I are confused! Is it because of the exam or is it the bloody show?? Or is it because they stripped my membrane and it caused the bloody show to happen?!

I'm hoping it's the "bloody show"!

Did you have discharge after they stripped your membrane?
