@elisat I'm going to have to try that!
We use pampers swaddlers, DD is 9 weeks and we had two poopy explosions this weekend one at my parents house one at the inlaws. They were so bad that they leaked through onto hubby's clothes (shirt,pants and boxers!) both times! I hope she outgrows soon!

DS has had some close calls lately but no leaks! The super poops seem to creep out towards the leg openings but not his thighs though.

Oh and we use pampers swaddles.

Blowouts here seem to focus on coming out at the top of the thigh, weirdly enough. There've been a couple up the back though. I find if the nappy is too loose or too small it's more likely, but a super poop is just going to escape anyway:)

@sandy: Good to know. This is exactly what I do, except for this outing. Oops.
@ElisaT: Great trick! I was using the swaddlers, too.
@erwoo: Phew!
@prettylizy: He was in a carrier....
@artbee: Fair enough, I guess I will try Elisa's tip and not worry about the diaper laundry (and just have extra clothing laundry). We'll definitely have to do laundry on the trip!

Well, this was alarming. I didn't know these things happened so often! So glad I'm learning to be prepared on here....

@ElisaT: GREAT tip!

I use disposables (Pampers Swaddlers) and a trick my mom taught me has saved us from quite a few potential blowouts! When you put the diaper on, fold the top 1" of the back flap inwards before placing LO on top of it then finish up like usual. The little pocket created by folding the flap prevents poop from going up the back. LO has been in disposables only for five months and has only had 2 poopsplosions and 3-4 near accidents. In the few near accidents poop was actually trapped in the little pocket - whew!

I'd love to go cloth but we pay for laundry so it's not in the cards for us yet. Phooey.

I use cloth but use disposable diapers when we are staying away from home. One less thing to worry about!

I use gdiapers and have had maybe 2-3 blowouts ever...and she is 7.5 months. She hasn't had one in months though bc she started solids.

I mostly used the flushables but now am using mostly cloth throughout the day and no blowouts for months...last one was maybe at 3-4 months

I'm scared of this too! We use cloth, but we're going to need to use disposables during our weeklong cross-country trip when we move at the end of the month. I've never had a real blowout using cloth, and I really don't want to have to deal with that issue!

I use cloth but disposable for overnight trips. Luckily now her poo is hard from eating solids so I rarely worry about blowouts. Personally I'd rather bring extra clothes in case of blowouts than do all of that diaper laundry on vacation.

She has occasional blowouts, most of the time I feel like it happens when she is strapped into some sort of seat, like a carseat or swing etc. She had a blowout today (not a biggie) but it was a HUGE poop, and she hadn't pooped all morning. I wouldn't worry to much about it, you'll be fine :)

Oh no! I went to synagogue with LO this morning and had to change him. I decided to go with disposables (not the disposable gDiaper liners or cloth we use at home but full on disposables) for the outing. AND.... he pooped up his back, out of the diaper, through his onesie, through his overalls.
Oh. My. Goodness.

I was changing him and asked another mom what diaper her LO (9 months) is in. She said... when her LO was as young as mine (5 weeks), she used to blowout all the time and just grew out of it.

This is our first real blowout.

Now I'm scared to go on our upcoming trip in 2 weeks (a 1 week long trip to Canada). Should I just use our gDiapers and find a laundry while traveling?

Do you use cloth or disposables? How about when you are out and about?

Does you LO have blowouts? Did you LO grow out of them?
