@FaithFertility: I'm in central FL, so this has been all over our news. So sad for the animals - there have been videos of the manatees all over my Facebook feed. :crying:
It seems like every summer there's something trying to kill us all in the water around FL. We always spend the 4th at our family lake house, and it's always a 50/50 chance that the water will be closed due to bacteria levels. We have a vacation in Seaside in 3 weeks, and right now the beaches are on alert in the panhandle because of fecal matter! It's nuts.

@FaithFertility: my parents dealt with this earlier in the Indian River Lagoon. They had to recruit volunteers to shovel dead fish off the shores.

How enraging! My parents have a house in Hobe Sound. We were in Jupiter two weeks ago and it was beautiful...hard to look at these pictures. Florida is such an agricultural powerhouse...I don't know what can be done with all that runoff but clearly some push back is needed. It is so scary to see the actual manifestation of warning and threats that scientists have made for years.

With the 4th this Monday and it being a holiday weekend it is so sad to know our local waters in S. FL are toxic :(
All our local beaches/river areas are closed! They are even now saying being near the water can make you sick :(
So many festivals and restraunts are water front!

I would think local hotels/resorts with pools and such would take advantage with day passes for use of pool and amenaties! I am calling a local Marriot to ask if this is a possibility?! Pay to play for the day?!
