This caught my attention because I just tried LO on blueberries tonight - she gobbled them up, then threw them up. It made me sad b/c she really seemed to like them - poor thing!

We had a similar reaction to sweet potatoes (constipation and pain pooping) that you experienced with the berries, so I've stopped those for the time being - I don't think she's allergic or intolerant or anything, but figure there are enough other things she can eat that I don't need to push items that seem to upset her digestive system. Maybe in another month or so.

Sorry I forgot to come back to this post..
@Rainbow Sprinkles: yeah I heard strawberries, raspberries and blackberries should be introduced later because they can cause allergic reactions and that sort of thing, but I always thought blueberries were different!

@blackbird: Yeah it could be an allergy, I just find it hard to understand why

blueberries usually cause the opposite problem! they're very fibrous and watery. eta: maybe she has an allergy?

I introduced raw blueberries to my 8 month old last week. she liked them. I would mash them lightly and then mix in with plain yogurt or just bite them in half and feed them to her on their own. by the 2nd day she starting grunting and shaking in pain whenever she was pooping. This got much worse by day 3, to the point that she was crying so badly to poop. She was still pooping regularly but it was hard and blue! So i cut out the bluberries and went back to applesauce and pear.

Is this a common reaction? could be anything else causing this problem?
