@daniellemybelle: I don't think lactation cookies are that crazy effective... It's more like a fun way to fuel up and an excuse to eat cookies! I guess with an oversupply you wouldn't want to do a thing to increase of course. My friends don't have that issue and they loved the cookies and muffins! Flax, oats, and healthy fat are something everyone can enjoy for breakfast or in a treat, and the Brewers yeast doesn't hurt even the non lactating.

@JerricaBenton: regular blueberry muffins are totally a delicious treat! I just wanted to make them a little bit more wholesome since I also brought chocolate chip cookies.

Honestly I'd just love regular old homemade blueberry muffins. I didn't have supply issues and would have just liked a treat pp

Just be sure to ask about the nursing stuff first! My mom made lactation cookies for a friend (like, a bunch plus gave her frozen dough!) and turned out she had an oversupply so she didn't need them. Not sure if she even ate them!

These are the best muffins! Turning up the heat for the first 5 minutes of baking really puffs them up. They don't have oats in them, but I'm sure you could tweak it

I love making these for new moms and my family loves having then around for breakfast. They're not really muffiny, definitely more like oatmeal in a muffin shape, but they seem healthier to me and taste great. I use 2-3 Tbsp of honey instead of sweetener. I also use olds fashioned oats instead of quick oats.

I would swap oil for coconut oil but not applesauce. Nursing moms need fat!

I usually just leave the blueberries frozen. They thaw fast, and I find that they squish less in the batter when they're still frozen.

@junebugsmama: definitely defrost the blueberries. Baking works best when items are at room temperature. I just prefer to use applesauce in lieu of oil!

I want to bring some blueberry muffins to my friend with a few week old. I want them to be a little bit healthy, with oats already in the recipe, and then I plan to add some flax and brewers yeast to help boost supply! Any favorite recipes that you think might doctor well? I only have frozen blueberries and I don't really plan to get fresh.
