I think with apples you can just offer chunky wedges or half of the apple. It's probably best to put it in the microwave for a few seconds to soften it. You could also try this with pears, though when they're ripe they tend to be softer.

We haven't tried many things yet, but LO has loved mango slices and banana (with some skin left on, to hold) so far. Also, slices of baked potato with the skin on, with a little cheese.

I try to make 'baby-friendly' servings of whatever we're eating

I feel like I keep giving my baby the same stuff everyday too.

other ideas:
steamed carrot sticks
pears (I slice and remove skin)
mango
melon (honeydew, cantaloupe)
toast sticks w/ avocado or hummus on it
strips of meat
ETA: oh yeah and we did green beans recently and she loved them!

I never fully grasped this and was sort of a blw failure because LO get gagging and throwing up so I pulled back until she had a better pincer grasp and I could do small diced things. I also struggle a bit with variety but just to include some things you didn't mention-- peas (when she gets her pincer grasp), blueberries, raspberries, strawberries (I cut all into smaller pieces bc my LO can't seem to grasp the taking bites thing), asparagus (so weird but my LO freaking loves it), carrots (steam or bake soft), zucchini, watermelon.

i prepped apples by slicing and microwaving until soft, or baking. I have a crinkle slicer that I used to slice things up to make it more grippy.

What are you eating? for the most part, most of your foods are totally fine to give your LO. I always thought that was the point of BLW, though, keeping it easy! :)

What have been your methods for prepping fruits and veggies for BLW? Particularly at the beginning and for the toothless :) LO is still mastering the gumless munching and I'm running out of ideas. We've done:

- steamed broccoli florets
- banana spears
- roasted sweet potato rounds
- roasted cauliflower rounds
- sauteed bell pepper strips
- roasted zucchini spears

I have the BLW books but I feel like I need more specific ideas for prepping other than the finger shaped, etc suggestions. I think it also doesn't help that we're boring with our fruits/veggies and tend to do the same over and over so I'm getting stumped with more variety for her. Also fruit is hard to get ripe with the right timing other than things like apples/bananas (how do you prep apples??).
