Probably around 8 or 8.5 months. At 10 months now, and she gets seriously hungry and grouchy before meals, and eats a ton. I give her 3 meals and a PM snack, and she is ready for them. If I try to nurse to hold her off, she's uninterested.

I have really started to notice it at 10 months. Now she gets fussy if her food is a little late. She has started to let me know she is hungry rather than me saying it's time to eat. You should of heard her carrying on this morning ;)

We did BLW with Miss A and she has always participated in family meal times but she really didn't get in to food until she was 12-14 months old. Even now at sixteen months old she still doesn't eat huge quantities of food but she has been reducing the frequency if her nursing sessions lately. I should also mention that she lets me know she's hungry but trying to climb in her high chair!

When it starts showing in their poop! And when they seem to be eating more than playing - for us this was a transition between 8-10 months I think.

We started three meals a day around eight months and I would say that's when. Having said that, my kid is an eating machine and probably not typical for BLW...

I intentionally took it very slow so I don't think she noticed until 10-11 months if she skipped a meal or snack.

I think maybe 10-11 months? can't remember exactly but I did not worry about always getting meals in in some scheduled way. I went with "before 1 is just for fun" and didn't worry about intake at all. she naturally started to drop bm feedings (we went until 18mo) and I gradually got more into solid meals and then snacks. I agree with @cmomma17: she wanted to eat all of my food for sure!

I think we're just about there now at 7 months. Over the last couple of weeks, she has got really into food.

She has a bowl of porridge and some fruit with her formula at 7am, then a snack (toast, crumpet, a baby biscuit) at 10am with her mid morning formula. She eats a full cooked meal at lunchtime (with formula), has wraps or sandwiches or salad sticks with cheese spread for her tea (with formula) and then just a bottle at bedtime. I think she would notice if we withdrew more than maybe one of those meals in a day.......

It's so cute to watch her feed herself her finger foods.

Our first jump was at around 8 months when they actually started eating a noticeable amount. They picked it up again at around 10 months (3 small meals a day), but only at a year did they start to complain if solids weren't offered. This has been true for both LOs.

@ 10 months LO doesn't necessarily notice if he misses a meal, but he does notice if we are eating without him! We can't do that anymore! He loves food, so if anybody is eating, he has to be eating too. It's a little exhausting :silly:

If you did BLW (or purees really) when did you feel like the solids meals started to really count as food? C is almost 7 months and we are doing baby led weaning. I give her solids most days, but not always at the same time. More like when we need an activity, or if the time between her afternoon feeding and bedtime feedings is a little long, but generally I don't worry about it since breast milk is her main source of nutrition.

When does that start to change? When did your Lo notice if you skipped a solids meal? I'm in no rush for her to reduce her BM intake but I realize it will have to happen.
