@Mrs. Bee: I am 5'10" so I never had the size issue with the Ergo. I was just thinking the other day I need to start keeping it in my car again because she wanted to be carried through the grocery store again. At 20 months/30lbs she is too big for me to carry but with the Ergo we both would be more comfortable.

We have the boba and love it. I live in Florida and an hot blooded anyway and I wouldn't be able to deal with an insert. I haven't found the straps or any part of the boba to be uncomfortable and it's super easy to put on/get LO in it alone. I did have to modify the newborn hold a bit once he got over 10 lbs -- he was too long for the carrier so I just unsnapped the bottom as if I was using the carrier on a child over 15 lbs, but kept his legs in since he's not yet big enough to have them out.

I have the Ergo and I love it. My LO is almost 16 months and we still use it every day. It is really comfortable. But it does get hot!

@Charcole2011: we have the boba and LOVE it. I think it might be my favorite piece of baby gear. It works straight out of the gate (we used it at less then a week old and DD was 7.5 lbs) and both DH and I use it regularly. I read a lot of reviews and I don't remember where it was but a chart basically said the boba was the best newborn to toddlerhood without extras so I went with it!

i have only used the ergo, but not 'til ds was a bit older. before that, i used a ring sling. so we never dealt with the infant insert.

this isn't helpful, but i absolutely love my ergo, and fox seems to love it too. i don't have actual back problems or anything, but my back KILLS when i carry around my freakishly huge baby without a carrier for more than a few minutes. i have no trouble at all with the ergo. we use it at the grocery store, on walks and hikes, while baking, doing housework, etc. etc. almost every single day. my husband loves it too, although it's kind of a pain to adjust it to his size and then readjust it to mine when he's done. also, it instantly calms him when he's fussy, and if he's sleepy, he falls asleep almost as soon as we get all strapped in.

plus i got the black organic so it coordinates with my all-black wardrobe. always a plus.

@Charcole2011: @chopsuey119: i'm in georgia too!

@Charcole2011: The Beco does have buckles that have a two hand release, but it's really not an issue. You need two hands to buckle them in (that goes for any carrier), it's not a hassle to use two to get them out.

I have both but have only used the bobs so far, ergo was a hand me down. I didn't like the boba for the under fifteen pound newborn carry for some reason my LO fought it (but liked the moby) but I do like it now that his legs can be out.

@Weagle: Thanks! I have read good things about the Beco carriers too, but it seemed to me like they had similar pros to the Boba and some people had issues with the buckles needing two hands? So I felt like the Boba might be easier...

I don't have the Boba, but do have the Ergo. I hated the infant insert. I also have a Beco. Have you looked at those? I love my Butterfly II, but I don't think they make them anymore. You may be able to find one discounted from PaxBaby, Frogmama, Abby's Lane, etc

Hoping some of you can give me some insight on the Boba 3G and/or Ergo carriers as I am really torn between the two. I was all set to get the Ergo, but I live in Georgia and am due in the middle of July, so I am really concerned about needing the infant insert which so many people say gets really hot for both mama and baby. The Boba seems to be good on this front, but I have read some reviews stating that the padding on the straps isn't as comfortable and I have a lot of back issues, so I definitely need the most supportive carrier I can find. I know some people use a Moby or sling for a newborn and then transition to the Ergo, but I don't think this is right for me - the idea really makes me nervous, so I'm hoping I can find a way to make the Boba or Ergo work from the beginning. Anyone have experience with either or both of these carriers?? Thanks!!!
