Thank you all!! It sounds like it's a really personal thing, ranging from loving the expensive option to loving the cheapest option, so I'll probably start with a regular body pillow and see if that helps at all. I'm 15 weeks, and while I tend to fall into bed exhausted, after my middle of the night bathroom trip, I am never comfortable and can't fall back asleep. Here's hoping a pillow (or 3) is the solution!

I thought about splurging, but decided to try the $10 body pillow first. Started using around 20-24 weeks I think and have loved it! It does the trick for me, so I'm glad I didn't go the more expensive route. I also have a pill for my head and another that I've always hugged - so 3 pillows for me!

I got the snoogle despite the price tag (ugh!) and must admit - I love it.... I have tried to sleep without it a few times and it was bad. I am having a hard time sleeping anyway, but the snoogle helps. I started using it around 18 weeks - I am 31 now.

I do think a king size pillow and one more would work though.

I have a plain old body pillow. Nothing to compare it to, but it's helped me a lot. Also, since it's just one long pillow, when we make the bed we can put it behind the other pillows and it looks fine, maybe even nice if you're feeling charitable LOL

I just bought a regular $10 body pillow at Target. I am not sleeping much these days, but I don't think I would be with a fancier pillow either :)

I have 2 mini snoogles, and I really loved them for a long time. But now at 38 weeks, nothing helps me sleep through the night. I am still glad I have them, and use them for all kinds of things (like propping up my legs/feet to try to reduce some--any!--of the swelling).

I have the Boppy Pregnancy Pillow and paid $60 for it at Target. I personally LOVE it and have slept with it since about 9 weeks or so. I guess it really all depends on how you sleep. I was a tummy sleeper but had to stop early on because with baby #2 I started getting big really early. It was totally worth it for me and I will most likely use it even after LO is born in October.

I rcvd a Leachco Back N Belly pillow as a gift. We returned it. It was huge, awkward, and hard/stiff. In the end I have been happiest with my king size down pillow and my Boppy $15 Wedge.

IMO its trial and error and what works best for you :)

For me the most important pillow I bought was the Wedge, stick it under my belly and my back stops hurting! I do have the Bobby body pillow, and while I like it, I think I could get away with a normal body pillow instead. The Wedge though I would recommend to anyone, it has saved my back and helped my sleep improve so much!

I have the snoogle & it IS pricy but this is baby #2 & I am using it again every night! I didn't start using it until the 2nd trimester either time, but I swear it helps me get comfortable fast without having to rearrange my pillows every time I shift or move slightly in bed. I think it depends on the person!

I bought a regular, cheap body pillow off of Amazon and love it. Basically, it allows me to put it between my legs and hug it. I then just use my normal pillows for my head. I like this one b/c I can easily bring it with me when I turn from one side to the other, which I do a lot.

I started using the Snoogle when I was about 15 weeks along or so and it was weird sleeping with at first, but after a couple weeks I fell in love with it. We went to San Diego for our babymoon a month after I started sleeping with it, and I seriously missed it those 5 nights! I slept with a pillow in between my legs and two behind my back and it just wasn't the same. The best part about the Snoogle was it kept me sleeping on my side instead of rolling onto my back. I had very little back pain and no hip pain during my entire pregnancy and I really think it's because I slept pretty well. I also used it to help prop me up while watching TV in bed. The Snoogle is worth the price tag, but maybe you should try a cheaper body pillow first to see if that helps?

I know people who swear by the snoogle and used it every single day of their pregnancy. I hated that thing because it was so awkward to use. It took up so much room and readjusting was such a pain. But in the last few weeks when I need support for my bump it was the only thing that worked.

I bought the snoogle and like it for about 5 seconds. I hate it now. Total waste of money. I toss and turn with it and wake up more sore than I was when I went to bed. I say skip it and just use a regular body pillow or just a bunch of extra normal sized pillow.

I tried the Snuggle and hated it. Instead, I got a "higher quality" body pillow from Bed Bath and Beyond. And probably used it for 5-6 months.
If you go with a body pillow - the firmer the better. If it's too soft, it won't provide the support you'll want for your hips (between your knees) or your tummy (under your belly).
And you might want two so when you switch positions at night, you don't need to rearrange the pillow.
At the end of my pregnancy, I liked having the body pillow against my front and between my legs and another pillow behind my back to put some pain relieving pressure against my low back.

I keep reading about body pillows: snuggles and other assorted things with names that make me giggle. But then I looked them up and the price tag? It does not make me giggle. So, I have lots of questions: How necessary is something like this? Will it actually help me sleep through the night (other than the inevitable bathroom breaks)? How far along were you when you started using it? And, could I get the same (or similar) effect from a regular ($10) body pillow I could buy anywhere, rather than a specifically maternity one?
