Well after this thread I ended up ordering a Scout bag, some wet bags, and some microfiber beach towels to try to save space. Thank you for contributing to my pool bag journey. Next up: a car bag.

@LadyDi: it really is a great bag and it holds so much! It’s so easy to switch from shoulder bag to backpack - I change it all the time. Our beach chairs have backpack straps too, so if we are using those I use the bag as a shoulder bag. I wish more bags had that option too! I do always feel bad recommending it because of the price though. My mom ordered when they had a Kickstarter so she got two for the same price they are selling one now. I think they go on sale a few times a year but I’m not sure for how much. I don’t think there is a completely perfect bag though.

@MACSUNSHINE: I clearly have too many bags (and containers of all sorts) as well!

@catgirl: I've never heard of a breeze bag but now I want one. Why don't all bags have a backpack option. Ugh maybe I'll ask for one for Christmas. But I love the blue ikea bags! We use them for all of our sand toys, they are perfect.

@MACSUNSHINE: I feel like maybe the bogg bag is not for me. If I get it and it's too small I am going to be so annoyed. I am sure I am overthinking this but I just feel like the perfect bag does not exist.

@pinkelephant it works well for that and I don’t worry when things are messy since it wipes clean. I had collapsible totes like @catgirl but they weren’t deep enough so stuff was falling out. The collapsible totes are more reasonably priced and great too. These are the ones I have:

CleverMade SnapBasket LUXE - Reusable Collapsible Durable Grocery Shopping Bag with Reinforced Bottom - Large Heavy Duty Canvas Carryall Tote, Herringbone, Not Insulated https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LF49SYR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_E8TKDGTM2T5NW279SVBC?psc=1

Can you tell I have far too many bags, totes, etc?

@PinkElephant: yes! We use those bags for so many things! DH always makes fun of me for grabbing more but they are so versatile. The big blue zippered one from ikea is also great!

And not to thread-jack but this is what we use in the car. One is in the trunk stocked with seasonal items, change of clothes, first aid, and things like paper towels. And then I keep an extra couple for corralling things in the car. (Mine are old and don’t have a brand name, so don’t have a link but the picture is the closest I could find)

@catgirl: Ooooh, yes to the TJMaxx bags. I’ll use a separate one to load up towels, or -opposite season, I know- to pack each individual’s bulky ski gear/wear together in a bag. Even when packing for a car trip, I’ll do one with food, one with, say, books/toys, one with hiking boots, etc.

@MACSUNSHINE: love the car bag idea. I was just thinking the other day that I need some kind of car organizer so that it is easier to clear the front seat of my van quickly (and stop the school supplies, snacks, water bottles, mittens, packages, etc. from flying everywhere).

So I have the large bogg bag. I have never used it for the pool/beach. It is my catch all for the car, lunch boxes, trash, whatever junk is in the car I use the bag to clean up. It is nice how it stands up.

I have 3 kids, it would never be big enough for the beach or pool. But then again I drag 2/3 bags with me to the beach 🤪. I think it would work as you describe. I use LL Bean totes, which will stand up but not water proof, or a Logan and Lenora tote bag that is a wet bag, it is floppy though.

Not sure if I helped but I do like the bogg bag except it is stiff so I carry it on my forearm not my shoulder

I have a Scout bag that I really like - I think it's this size/style (different print). The only downside is that it is a bit of a cavern - there's only one inner zip pocket and no external pockets....so it's helpful to have items organized inside. I typically use a PackIt for snacks, a mesh bag for pool toys/goggles, and Itzy Ritzy or Bumkins wetbags for dry clothes. There are other styles depending on whether or not you want it to close on top, and what strap you need

https://www.scoutbags.com/montauk-mint-weekender

Pluses are it's light, and easy to clean, and waterproof.

I bought an XL LL Bean Boat and Tote bag to use for swimming classes, and it also came in handy for ski season and I plan to use it for beach trips - it's enormous! I got the long handles and the zip top.

My mom ordered one last year and returned it, but I checked it out before she sent it back. It felt too small to me. I can admit that I tend to over pack for beach/lake/pool but there was no way it would have worked for the three of us. The listed dimensions make it seem like it should work but because it doesn't have much give on the shape it feels hard to fit everything in.

I have a bunch of LL Bean bags, in a variety of sizes and handle lengths. I like that they stand up and keep their shape, but the regular ones aren't very water resistant and the one that is more water resistant doesn't come in the biggest size.

When water resistant is by biggest concern I love my sea bags. They are light and can hold a lot (if you have the bigger sizes). But the bottom isn't flat which is annoying.

My go to beach bag is a breeze bag. The two main downsides are that it is pricey and it's heavy. But it has great pockets and can be worn as a backpack or on your shoulder. This was a gift though, and as much as I like it I'm not sure it's worth the price.

But honestly my other favorite bag for these types of things is the giant reusable shopping bags from homegoods/tj maxx/marshals or the reusable blue bags from Ikea. They don't have pockets but I use a bunch of wet bags and zippered pouches to group everything. I buy a few each year and if they get gross or damaged I'm not worried about it.

@hitchhiker: So the appeal for me is that it's solid and doesn't tip, you can also put a cooler insert inside or attach pockets. I like the idea of stuff standing up, like water bottles, etc without becoming a giant disorganized pile in the bottom of the bag. But, that being said, I might be better off just getting one of those large thirty-one style utility totes.

A few people at our pool have them. I’ll admit that I don’t get the appeal. To me, the key feature of a a pool bag is *many* pockets—separate pockets for goggles, pool toys, wallets, etc. so a bag that has no pockets does not seem very useful. They also aren’t big enough for our, admittedly very giant pool haul. I use a Boon bag that I got from a school fundraiser years ago. https://www.boonsupply.com/products/carryall-tote-navy-stripe

I haven't heard of the bag you asked about, but wanted to share what I use because I love it. I got this tote in the large size. I like that it's waterproof and has a zipper top, so if it gets knocked over, my stuff doesn't fall out. We use it for 3 towels + clothes. We use it mostly for swimming lessons, but I can also bring it to the beach and sand doesn't get in.

Does anyone have a bogg bag? We joined a pool so we will be spending a lot more time there this summer and I think I need a new beach/pool bag situation. People seem to love bogg bags. Are they work it or any other pool bag recommendation? I have three kids whose junk I need to haul around.
