@Foodnerd81: Thank you. :) I'm really happy he's here too! He was worth every bit of it!!

@Arden: Makes sense!! Breastfeeding is going great so far. I'm trying to make sure I'm doing everything to keep it that way!

Definitely normal - I felt super "full" and uncomfortable for about a week and a half after my milk came in. My LO is a month old and I just recently started to actually feel a bit more normal after he eats.

If you're uncomfortable you can pump a little to relieve the discomfort, but as others have said it could lead to an oversupply so I'd be careful with it!

I wouldn't pump, because right now your body is trying to establish a baseline for how much milk it needs to produce. If you pump after feeding you are likely going to end up with an oversupply and be engorged all the time until it evens back out.

Just keep feeding him as much as he wants and your body will figure everything out on its own. :)

I had that. I never pumped for the first few weeks but I nursed all the time- she was always eating. I figured I'd follow her lead and my supply would hopefully adjust to her needs, which it did.

But I wasn't going back to work or worrying about a big stash. If you are you could pump and freeze, but really this early I only would if you are really uncomfortable.

And side note, seeing you post about bfing since your Lo is finally here just made me really happy.

It's normal! Your supply is still getting established. I didn't have an ”empty” feeling in my breasts for...months, ha! Keep up the good work, mama!

@jetsa: Yeah I figured I may still just be adjusting. Just afraid of "wasting" it if you know what I mean.

If you want to pump go ahead, you may develop an oversupply, your body will take 6 weeks or so to regulate how much he needs

Total newbie question. My milk came in last night and today I started feeling full and borderline engorged (but not engorged yet). After I nurse LO and he detaches when he's done it's definitely better, but it still feels pretty heavy and full compared to before my milk came in.

Is there still milk left? Or is this just how they normally feel? Should I pump it if there's extra and store it? I know I'm giving LO what he needs but I'm paranoid about low supply as we establish breastfeeding.

I'm lost. Haha. Any advice or guidance?
