No book recs, but love this blog: http://liberatingworkingmoms.com/

I also WOH and find that I'm a better mom because I work. I try to make the most of the time we spend together, and I also enjoy having something that is totally mine. And in the first lots of months back, I pumped at work, so LO was on my mind always anyway.

It's hard -- AND you can do it.

@runnerd: it totally gets easier!! That first month (or two) sucks, but after that you do exactly what your DH said- you become a better parent in the time you are with your LO because you appreciate it more! There are still days when I get bummed about dropping LO off at daycare- but then I think about seeing him after work and how excited he will be and it gets me through. Don't forget there are going to be days when you drop off your LO too and think- THANK GOODNESS for DAYCARE- that kid was driving me nuts! ;-) It does get easier- it just takes time! Lots of photos and videos on your phone and watch them throughout the day!

Following - I start work back next week and I cry every time someone brings it up.

@Runnerd: no advice, just thinking about you.

Hugs! It's so hard! I've been considering this book...

http://www.amazon.com/dp/1449410944/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3JC0SGOA899U0&coliid=IRQFBEYMKJJ7W

ETA: "It's not how much time you have with your kids, but how you spend that time that matters in the life and legacy of a young family."

@runnerd: Sorry you are having a rough time. I don't know if this makes you feel any better, but we went on a family vacation when my son was about to turn 6mo. I had been back at work for 3 months. Vacation nearly killed me. I am a much more enthusiastic mom when I get a break from my child. I think nursing has helped me feel bonded even though I am away during the day.

Ah it's so nice there are some books out there! It gets easier, I promise! You will still be 100% bonded to your baby, you are 100% raising it (seriously, nobody says this shit to working dads, punt it from your mind  ) and you are doing a GREAT JOB!

@runnerd: I think the first couple days/weeks are really all about survival. Cry if you need too, do the bare minimum to get through your day, snuggle your baby as soon as you get home and go to bed early! It's tough but it really does get better. Such a huge transition though!

@runnerd: on a personal note, I want to tell you that it gets better! Last school year when I came back to work after maternity leave, it was really hard on me. I was still EPing, still trying to do the MSPI diet, my LO was sick constantly-constantly!--for almost 5 months straight. I felt like I had so many plates spinning and I couldn't keep them all going. Her sleep was SO bad that I constantly felt run down and resentful.

This school year, I feel so much more "together". LOs sleep has improved a bit and she's not sick as much...so those are the two main factors. But I've also stopped EPing and not having to pump and follow that diet has really made everything better. Just hang in there!

For books, try these: http://www.amazon.com/Overwhelmed-Work-Love-Play-When/dp/0374228442/ref=sr_1_7?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1412098886&sr=1-7&keywords=working+mothers

Has anyone come across any books geared at working moms, and overcoming negative feelings? I'm on day two back from maternity leave, and I really feel like I need a reality check!

I can't shake the feeling that I've handed over the better part of my child's day, that our bond won't be strong, and that I'm not getting to raise him. :'( My logical side knows lots of children myself included adored their working parents, but if anyone knows any reading materials that would help drive the point home, I'd appreciate it!
