My 4 yo son enjoyed Mercy Watson (Kate DiCamillo) and loves the Magic Tree House (that rec thanks to @mediagirl: ). He also liked the Henry Huggins (Cleary). You can also see if your library has audiobooks through a database such as OverDrive. Then they're free to stream on almost any device.

I haven't done any book + audio pairings, but my 5-year-old does like to listen to audiobooks and I'll check them out from the library sometimes. We've gotten CDs for the car--Mrs. Pigglewiggle is a favorite, as well as Mrs. Pigglewiggle's Magic, and I've also downloaded the Overdrive app to my iPad to check out audiobooks online and download them. We've done a bunch of Fancy Nancy that way, and others. I recently tried a free Audible trial through Amazon Prime, and she really enjoyed Ramona the Brave and Ramona and Beezus, so I got an Audible subscription. They're great for the car, for quiet time, or to listen to while she's drawing or having a snack. She's 5.5 now, but we started Mrs. Pigglewiggle when she was about 2.5.

I recently picked up a few book + audio pairings for DD at the library the other day and they've been a hit. She can sit and listen to and look at the book while I put DD2 to bed and it has helped us cut back on our screen time a bit. I'm thinking of buying her her own stereo so we can get more to use for quiet times. Have you tried any of the book + cd pairings for your LO? Any favorites to recommend?
