I used a Kaboost, it goes under the chair, lifts up the entire thing.

We have the Prince Lionheart one with the straps but we don't really use them anymore at 24 months.

We also have the Ingenuity Smartclean with straps that I thought I would really like (you can remove the top part for easy cleaning) but the top part moves around while she she's sitting on it, which is annoying. We haven't used that one many times yet though so I may be missing some little trick.

We love the prince lionheart booster! Easy to clean and not hideous. Think it would be okay on your chairs.

I got the oxo one (they make a version with a buckle or without) when DD2 was 18m old. But I agree that 2.5 may be getting old enough to use the regular chair, if you are comfortable with it. DD1 started using the regular chair around then, and DD2 is now 21m and puts up a pretty good fight against the booster lately (and does fine kneeling on the bench or a regular chair). Definitely the downside is that she isn't locked in though!!

ETA: @hazeleyes: meant to reply to you - we have an ikea toddler chair and it's worked great.

B, too, is 2.5 and started refusing the use the booster about 6 months ago. He just sits on his knees on a regular chair. I wish I could still strap him in but it wasn't worth the daily fights.

That being said I think if you doubled up a towel the cushioning would take the pressure from the booster and it wouldn't stretch your chair.

We do the same as @Pancakes:. Our LO started refusing to sit in her high chair around 20 or 21 months so she's just been in normal chairs since then. She often sits on my lap or on her knees to eat. Doesn't really seem to bother her. She is hard to contain, but honestly she's so strong at this point I sort of can't imagine her still sitting in a high chair or booster (she's 28 mo now).

@HazelEyes: Are you sure he needs a booster? My youngest is not quite 2 and she has refused a booster for the past several months. She's on the small side but manages to eat in a regular chair. The downside is that we can't contain her, of course, but if you think he'll sit still I'd just consider skipping it, especially since it sounds like he'll be close to 3 anyway by the time your DD needs the highchair. You might also look into finding a used TrippTrapp or Keekaroo.

We have the Prince Lionheart booster - it has no straps or anything, it's more of a true cushy booster seat. We use it on our upholstered dining chair.

@futuremama: possibly. I was less worried about stains than the booster stretching and stretching out the fabric.

@MrsF: hmm. This might be a good option! We love the ikea high chair....

If you happen to be close to an ikea we love their junior chair for my preschooler. I think they have wooden models as well.

Can you just put a towel under the booster to protect the chair? We have upholstered chairs and did this to prevent stains. We just double checked that the straps were secure to make sure it wouldn't slip.

So J is 2.5 and we still use a highchair so he can be a part of the dinner table. Well that is going to have to be passed off to my daughter in about a month or two when she starts sitting and eating solids so we are going to have to move J over to a booster.

We have a fisher price booster but my girlfriend has the same booster and leather chairs and the booster destroyed her leather dining chair

So, does anyone have a recommendation for a booster that won't destroy our nice chairs??
