@808love: The pictures on Amazon don't show but it comes with straps that you can fasten to a regular dining chair to make it a quasi-highchair. :)

I use the restaurant's high chair when we eat out and use the Regalo portable chair when we go to friends' houses. For $14, it's extremely sturdy. I also love that you can use it as a normal chair. My LO loves to play and sit in it at home too. Highly recommend.

And, I bought this when LO turned 1 year old but it was still a little big for her but still do-able.

Thanks Andrea, I'll have to see. It looks like the seat is high, I wonder if my son would try to wiggle out!

The lobster won't work at our table, we have a glass topped table that sits on a metal frame, and the frame has a shelf, if that makes sense. Personally, if someone came to my house with that, they'd be out of luck and if I had a better table, they wouldn't be clipping anything to it.

We still use a high chair at restaurants but we do have a booster seat since we've been to places that don't have high chairs. It is this one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002IVTUVE/ref=wms_ohs_product

I agree that the back falls forward but it doesn't seem to bother the LO. I think it works fine.

I also didn't like the idea of clipping chairs to tables since not everyone would be OK with you doing that unless you just want to use it at home.

Bumping this back up for a rec when you go to other people's homes to eat and they don't have a high chair or booster.

I prefer not to get one that clips on the table because a lot of people I know have glass tables and honestly, I'd be kind of put out if someone showed up with a chair and wanted to clip it to my table, hello scratches.

The little guy hated booster seats. Once he was too big for high chairs he preferred to kneel.

Do you take your own booster seat for your LO when you go out to eat? We have the brica one that folds up to itty bitty and flat. But it feels a little flimsy. Do you think it's necessary or the one supplied by the restaurant is good enough?

Can someone give me some recommendations based on your experiences?
