Me? I would. But then again I had a glass of champagne and the occasional sip of beer from my husband's glass during the 3rd tri.

@tororojo: I agree with @blackbird. I'm super paranoid about alcohol consumption during pregnancy, but the amount that would be left is so negligible that I cannot fathom a way that it would be harmful even if you ate the whole pie!

Now, I know some rum cakes, etc. have a drizzle that is poured over the cake in which the alcohol has not been cooked at all or very little. I personally wouldn't eat things like that.

Normally I would say the booze would have baked off but if you can taste alcohol I wouldn't risk it.

a baked dessert SHOULD be okay... but I know how you feel.. my SIL made a delicious rum cake when I was pg and it tasted heavily of rum - but sooo good. I guess the icing did have rum in it (that wasn't baked) so I only have a bit but it was heaven!!!

If the alcohol baked off during the baking process, I ate it. One time, however, I tried a cobbler and it still tasted heavily of alcohol so after one bite I tossed it.

Yeah, i agree, you can't possibly eat so much pie that you'll get drunk off it :) It may still taste like bourbon, but a chunk of the alcohol has most certainly burned off!

Bake a pie for 1 hour, it has 25% of the alcohol content left. Paula Deen's recipe has 2 TB of alcohol in it. FOR THE WHOLE PIE. But let's say you get crazy and use 4 Tablespoons. Burn off 75% of that, and it's 1 TB of alcohol left in the entire pie. Let's say you have 1/8th of a slice--which is generous. That means you are consuming 0.125 TB of liquor, or approximately 1/3 of a teaspoon.

Yeah. Can't hurt you.

I wouldn't worry about it either. I mean, how much alcohol is really going to be in one slice of pie? Not much at all, especially in a cooked type of pie.

I wouldn't have a problem with it. To me, it's the same as drinking an O'Douls (non-alcholic beer with .5% alcohol), which I will be drinking occasionally.

Anything that is cooked with alcohol still has some alcohol in it after it's cooked. Even baking something for 2 hours still leaves a small amount behind. Just not worth it to me.

i think the cooking makes the alcohol moot.

I haven't had a sip of alcohol during pregnancy but I had chicken and waffles with bourbon infused syrup for our anniversary dinner - and they were DIVINE.

I'm pretty sure a baked dessert would have had all the alcohol burned off during the cooking process and just leave behind the flavor, either way I don't think a bite or two is an issue (and I am not drinking anything alcoholic during pregnancy.) I've made sauces with sherry and didn't think twice about it.

I have not avoided boozy desserts during the pregnancy. Everything appears fine so far at 37 weeks although LO is not here yet.
Based on my cooking experience, I felt like it was acceptable and not risky. I just had small pieces and enjoyed them very much!

A co-worker made chocolate pecan pie that has bourbon in it...tastes delicious but pretty boozy so I only had the one bite. But it was delicious! Should I assume that if a dessert tastes like alcohol, it's not okay, or is that silly? If it's silly, I want to go have a piece. :)
