I never used my boppy because LO was too small for it and it just didn't fit my body proportions. You could probably get one used for not that much.

I think so, I've only used it a few times. I sometimes forget that I have it. It came in handy when we were traveling.

I couldn't live without MBF and my LO is 3 weeks. I can BF without it on the go, but I'm much happier with it! I found mine at a consignment shop for $14 and they had boppys as well. I just washed the cover and looked at the foam to make sure it was in good condition.

I personally couldn't live without it. I use it daily...my LO was pretty much constantly nursing, and he was heavy from the get-go. My arms would get tired from holding him otherwise. I probably could have used any pillow just the same, but I also used it for tummy-time, and now use it to help him practice sitting.

You can totally do without it. I really didn't use mine until just recently . . . I can sit LO in it for a few minutes, and it is great for low back support in bed. But for nursing? Meh. A regular pillow worked much much better.

IMHO you need SOME nursing pillow. Actually I have a boppy and the my brest friend. I prefer the my brest friend, but the boppy is good too. Without it, nursing is a lot more tiring.

I EBFd for 6.5 months, and continued BFing until almost 19 months. I had a boppy and never used it even once. I hated nursing with any kind of pillows or prop, it seemed to make it more difficult for me,

I had a My Breastfriend pillow. I loved the belt that it had--that made it comfortable. I wasn't sure that the Boppy would work as well because it didn't have one, although I think they might now.

I have to manage without when we're out and about but it's not comfortable for either of us. It can be done, it's just how much you want to.

@katiew92081: She actually uses it for when her daughter is playing independently and she can set the baby down next to her daughter. He loves to just sit there and watch her play and with the boppy he can lay on it or sit up (and have a soft spot if he falls down).

@thehistoryofus: My son is 5 and in kindergarten. I'll still give him one on one time that he needs, but he doesn't need as much as a toddler would. He's pretty independent. But, that's a good point about the tummy time!

@katiew92081: If this is your second one, a boppy could also be really helpful to help with tummy time and sitting up. I know my friend didn't BF but uses the boppy all the time with her second child so he can have more floor play time with his older sister.

@sorrycharlie: That's what I'm thinking. I was pretty skilled at bfing my son, but if I feel like it'll help after I start nursing this LO, I think I'll just go out and get it. I've been a real minimalist for this baby, due to lack of space, and less is more in my book, as far as baby gear! I suppose before the Boppy, women were doing just fine!

I have a My Brest Friend pillow and a boppy that was gifted to us. I find that I use the boppy a lot more now that DS is older (5.5mos) and is sitting on the floor. I found the MBF pillow to be much easier to use while BF and I still use it most of the time when I'm home.
