Thanks so much, all! Sounds like borrowing is totally normal and the way to go. We also managed to get the mattress to sit flush so I feel better about it, and called the company and they said no need to replace the mattress. We just wiped down the mattress and got new sheets so I think we are good to go!

I used a bassinet that MANY people had used before. I got a new mattress because the last home had cats. Lots of others have used it after me to. It's sweet to see those things move around as needed.

We were passed down a bassinet and used it for both our kids and then passed it along to a friend! We just washed all the fabric and wiped down the mattress (which had a plastic-like cover). I loved not having to buy one and I LOVED having a bassinet!

I wanted to add that most of DD1's stuff has been used by now by 4 kids at least! DD1 --> friends LO --> DD2 --> friends LO. And in the case that it came to DD1 as hand me down, then even more! Obv we won't use something if it's in horrible shape or unsafe!

ours was a hand me down from a friend who used it for her two kids, from their friend who used it for their two kids, we just used it for our two and lent it to a friend in between for her son, so 7 kids so far, and we passed it on to DH's coworker. You could always get a new mattress pad if you really wanted but our kids were only in it for 3 months each...

We used an cradle that has been in the family for generations. Ordering a new mattress on Amazon was not expensive.

I would use a used bassinet used by other people we knew for the amount of kids you cited - if someone I didn't know had used it, I'd be extra careful with my disinfecting, and would buy a new mattress.

My three kids have all slept in the same Moses basket (same mattress), and not for a short period of time - I'd say it was probably 6, 4 and 9 months, respectively - and it's still in pristine condition. And the stand I used with it was not new to us, and I don't think it was new to the family we got it from, either.

We lent out our bassinet (uppababy vista + jolly jumper stand) in between our two kids. I did get a new mattress cover for LO2 but we also used the older ones as well bc she was a puker :silly: So yes, I’d be fine with a used one!

we bought our arms reach cosleeper used from a baby consignment store, used it for our daughter, lent to to a friend, lent it to our chiropractor who "paid" us in visits so it covered our actual cost, used it for our 2nd baby, then lent it to my SIL and now we're getting ready to use it for our 3rd! so yes, i would and we bought new waterproof mattress pads for ours as well as new sheets when we bought it, but all of our friends have used our stuff and it's fine! if you feel like the mattress isn't firm enough (it does fold to store), i'm sure you can buy a new one! :)

I lent ours out and its since been returned. In the grand scheme of baby gear, its used for such a short period of time, no point in buying new.

The mattress could go in the wash (jolly jumper Moses basket) so that was good enough for me.

We bought our bassinet off kijiji, so yes, I have no problem with a used one. If you have concerns with the mattress I might try to get a new one though.

The bassinet we used with DD1 was handed down through 3 generations. So yes, I’d use a used bassinet 😊

I would buy a new mattress/liner and use the same instructions for how to disinfect a pack n' play frame to disinfect the cosleeper.

I'd have no issue with a used bassinet - they're used for so short a period of time, and they can be pricey brand new. Neither of my kids liked laying flat as a newborn, so it wouldn't have been useful for us though.

I would use a borrowed bassinet, but probably not that one. I don't like that it was in the garage and also used to many times. Best of luck to you and congratulations!

I am using a used bassinet. Our friends used it for their two kids.

If you're worried about the mattress, could you just buy a new one? I doubt they're very expensive

I’m due with my 1st baby in 3 weeks and a friend loaned us her arms Reach Co-sleeper that she used for her 2 kids and was also used by at least one other person. My guess is it’s like 5 years old. It was in her garage for a few months and then she gave it to me. We washed the fabric liner and sheets but I’m feeling weird about it now. The mattress seems lumpy and I feel like I’m going to be nervous using it. So my questions, I guess, are:

-Would you use a used bassinet?
-Do you know how the mattress is supposed to sit in the Arms Reach, specifically? It feels like it has a bump/air bubble in the middle, maybe from the folds?

Thank you!!!!
