The new birthing center is BEAUTIFUL! And I was super impressed when they came in the room to do all the newborn screenings while I was in there with her instead of taking him to the nursery. I know their midwives were fantastic with this friend. She had some complications (placenta retention/blood transfusions, both births), she was able to have her unmedicated natural births in the water. They also offered reiki services to help with her labor (though she said it actually calmed her down so much that the contractions slowed down at one point, lol). There aren't really any viable hospitals near where we work unfortunately :(. The 25 minute drive to Emerson, there and back is an hour, plus a good hour for the appointment. I would maybe switch, but I haven't put much thought into it yet. At least it wasn't recent. NWH would be pretty far for us. Would you switch practices? I've been liking them more than I did at the beginning. Mitra was really nice and helpful when I had vertigo, which is more than I can say for my primary dr.</p> <p>I toured the hospital and I liked it, I was just curious about hospital-specific experiences. Were there snacks? Were the nurses nice? Did they make you turn down the epidural to push? I have a few friends who have delivered babies there with no complaints (at least that I've heard).
