@Seattlemom: I live and work in Billerica, so I'm not really very helpful with the commute question. My instinct is that you will be going opposite of the city traffic, so if google maps says 45 mins, then I think 45 mins is a fairly accurate estimate.

What other towns were you looking into? Burlington, Billerica, Chelmsford, and Westford are all in the area and good options. Or even Wilmington is a nice, little town. Lexington is great, too...a bit more pricey than the others I mentioned, though.

@Seattlemom: I used to live in Newton just off Route 9 and commuted to North Reading, right near Wilmington. It wasn't bad at all since you're going against traffic most the time. They recently got rid of a lane at the mass pike intersection so getting through there is a bit slow now, but living anywhere in MA, 40-45 minute commute is pretty standard. I think Newton is a great location with a fairly easy commute to anywhere. I've worked in North Andover, North Reading, Tewksbury, and Sudbury while living there and it was always against rush hour traffic.

@Seattlemom: I've only been to Newton a few times to visit friends so I can't say how it would be daily, but if it says 45 mins it will be at least that, it will be an hour to an hour an a half with traffic. I would probably look closer to Wimington if you can. Were there any other towns you found that you liked closet? I could tell you if I've heard anything about them

@Seattlemom: Oh, I gotcha! I'm not positive of the commute, but I think as long as you stay north of 128, it's not that bad. If you were to move somewhere along Rt. 93, I think the commute would be all highway besides right in and out of Wilmington and in and out of the cit you live in. Salem, NH is only about 30 minutes from Wilmington, depending on where. Manchester, NH is only an additional 15 minutes and then there's a bunch of different places in between.

It all probably depends on what you're looking for. It would be cheaper to live in NH. Just in general, the further from Boston, the cheaper it will get. Plus NH doesn't have income or sales tax. But if you like city-life, NH is not really the best place for it! Salem and Manchester both have decent shops and restaurants, but definitely nothing like living closer to Boston!

@YogiRunner: Cool, I was actually born and raised in western ma but I don't know the Boston area at all! It doesn't help that I've been in Seattle for 15 years!

...sorry for stealing this thread a bit....one more question!

@bunnylovesbear: @bushelandapeck: do you gals this it would be crazy to live in newton and for DH to commute to Wilmington every day? Google maps says its 45mins drive but would it be worse with traffic? We've found a few housing options in newton and I know its a very family friendly town but don't want DH miserable either...thanks!

@Adira: yes, I've heard its pretty common, but thankfully DH's job is north of the city. We just to figure out which town to live in! If DH works in Wilmingotn, is NH an ok commute, or would that be pretty bad too?

@Seattlemom very exciting! Born and raised in New England and I love it to pieces, hope you do too.
The move went well... still adjusting from city life to a quiet little town, but it's a great community and my dog loves her new yard.

Best of luck with your move and welcome to New England!!!

ETA: Actually quick question for the Norfolk county bees... I am searching for a new primary care doc. One of the first questions I'll ask is for an authorization form for a fertility specialist even though it's only been 8 mos of TTC (my gyn told me to just wait).. any recco's for a great primary care doc that has helped you with/understands TTC? Looking in the Westwood/Walpole/Medfield area. Thank you! (One of these days I'll be the advice GIVER and not the asker, I promise!) :silly:

Hey Bostonian Bees! Bumping this thread real quick because we've now moved to the burbs (Norfolk county right on the Middlesex County line) and are in desperate need of a quality dog walker. Kind of a random request, I know, but anyone out there know of a reliable, good-with-crazy-dogs walker in the area?
Thanks much in advance!

Hopefully sooner than later I'll also ask for OB and PD suggestions...
