@regberadaisy: Thanks for this post. I am still on the same nipples since she was 3 months. I didnt even realize I was supposed to go up again. The nipples I have are fast flow though, so is there anything faster than that

When we tried a fast flow he ate too fast, so too much and then would throw up. The next day we were back to the slow ones. :)

@winniebee: Do you breastfeed also? If so, did the change in nipple flow affect your nursing?

Thanks! I just thought I was "supposed" to. :) I'll just stick with the 1s then.
@mediagirl: size 2s came with the starter kit and I got free 3s from my SIL!

We tried size 2 flow around 3 months and it was clear he wasn't ready so tried again at 4 months. He went from taking 30 minutes to drink a bottle to taking it in 10-15 minutes. At this point (almost 6 mos) there's no way he would drink for 30 minutes....he's too nosy and distracted. I don't plan to switch to a faster flow for awhile though, he seems content with the size 2 (also feel like drinking a bottle any faster than 10 minutes would not be good!)

I never changed. If she's ok with level 1, stick with that. Otherwise she could overeat -- they need time to realize when they're full, just like adults.

We went from slow flow to medium when LO was about 4 months old because it was taking him a half hour to eat from a bottle. The transition to medium went pretty well and I don't know if we'll even have to go up to the fast flow ones as the mediums seems to flow pretty quickly.

I don't plan on ever moving up from the size 1 nipples. They're nice and slow and I don't see a need to move up (or spend the money on faster nipples). I have read that if you breastfeed, you should stay at the lowest size nipple for bottles until you're done breastfeeding.

@MamaMoose: hm good point. I do nurse primarily when I'm with her. She gets a bottle at bed time and at day care. She definitely sucks faster when she's having a bottle. I don't think my flow is that quick because she eats a lot slower when on the boob.

Are you still nursing as well? I guess my concern would be that the level 3 nipples would possibly have such a fast/easy flow that she might refuse to nurse.

We use Dr Brown nipples and I never transitioned her from level 1 to level 2 (3 month+) nipples. She's currently 6 months already. Should I just skip the level 2 and go straight to level 3 (6 months +) nipples?
Or would that flow be too much for her too handle with skipping a level?

Thanks!
