@T.H.O.U.: I don't know why they don't carry them more places. It was the most recommended bottle when I was doing my research. Missed opportunities!

Update! Got a comotomo bottle this weekend (thank you prime now! No stores locally had one in stock) and stocked DH with some YouTube videos on bottle feeding and had him heat the milk a lot warmer and she's taking bottles! Thanks all for your support.

My second refused a bottle until I got this brand. The bottom is silicone so even when he wouldn't suck the milk out we squeezed the bottom so the milk came out for him. Totally worked! It worked the same for two of my friends who were also dealing with bottle refusing.

My minion was a stubborn one. He drank no more than 0.5 ounces during his 9 hour days from 9 weeks to 6 months. I would nurse him every hour when I got home and all night (we coslept because momma needed sleep and baby needed food) . The upside is he proved he could go a whole night without food, (something he has yet to do at 18 months).

After 6.5 months he immediately got over it at daycare and at 10 months he would take bottles from daddy if I wasn't there The day after his first birthday he had the audacity to take a bottle out of my pump bag and drink it in front of me. It was almost funny except for the all of the stress he put me through.

My advice is to try not to worry. My kiddo stayed in the 90th percentile for weight and was ebf despite his refusal. And there's literally nothing you can do. The baby will eventually figure it out

Ds1 sucked down bottles like no big deal.

Ds2 didn't take a bottle until almost 5 months (we tried everything) when one day he just took it. I think his gag reflex was really forward in his mouth and made a bottle hard for him. Once that integrated the bottle was fine. There was a long 5 weeks where I was back to work mostly but still needing to nurse. I work 3 blocks away from home, but it was hard to sneak home without upsetting ds1 and it taking ages. I was so happy when it finally worked. We also got into a place where he was nursing all night to make up for it and I was pumping way more than he was eating (like 10-15 oz). I have away so much milk, but it also sucks to be producing that extra, I felt like all I did was eat...

@MenagerieMama: My baby also refused the bottle. All my friends' babies refused the bottle. Initially. And they starved themselves for a little while, til they learned they had to take it. I think it was 3 full days at daycare and I imagine it was heartbreaking (wahhhh!!) but eventually he took it like a pro. He wasn't always very open to it (I EBFed) and wouldn't take a bottle if I was near, but he did learn in certain circumstances he just had to take it!

tl;dr: I need success stories about bottle refusing babies!

LO2 is 3 months and I went back to work this week. She's home with DH because he is temporarily unemployed for the next 3 months (accidental paternity leave! yay for him and boo for our bank account :silly: ). Anyhow. She won't take a bottle. My first 2 days back were half days, wouldn't take the bottle but I was home by noonish to feed her. I was gone 10 hours at work yesterday, pumped 15 oz, and she ate <1 oz at home. She's the opposite of LO1 (who would have been furious) and just quietly and sadly accepts her fate of starvation. I can't forget the look on her sad little face from coming home yesterday!

Not to mention I was pumping for her at work, but then come home to a ravenous baby who wants the 15 oz I pumped but not in bottles! So she barely left my boobs (poor nips) and I'm worried she's going to induce an oversupply (which I've had major issues with LO1 and worked really hard to not have this time around). Luckily I just work 3 days/week and off this weekend.

I'm planning to skip my second pumping session at work on Monday so I'm tanked up for a starving baby when I get home if she's still refusing (ouch for me). I suppose she'll get through this eventually but I need some stories to make me feel better!
