We didn't have a microwave, and we used a lot of chemicals in our dishwasher.</p> <p>I basically used it as a storage container that also happened to be a steamer. </p> <p>Whenever I boiled something, I either forgot the pot on the stove and burned it, or something melted. I wondered the same thing, lol. But i discovered that it's best to still wash with soap, then sterilize. that's why some people don;t sterilize after every use. I do just to make it a habit otherwise I forget how long it's been. We haven't used bottles really in a month b/c of thrush concerns, but I still pump sometimes and use a soothie on car rides.
