I *love* our comotomo bottles. I wouldn't use anything else and LO has never has an issue. The nipples are small and closest to a boob that I have seen

same exact scenario here! We gave her a bottle when she was a week old, she took it like a champ, takes a pacifier and then we started slacking! We had her 4 month check up today and the doc told me not to have it be a feeding that she cares about (morning or before bed) but to do it in the evening when I cluster feed her before bed. She also said to do it everyday.

when she has taken one in the last few weeks, we have had some success with the Nuk. The weird thing is, she will take a bottle from me but not my husband or my mom. But I also haven't tried leaving the house.

@lawbee11: that's too bad. :( we've been giving her a bottle since she has been home. I'll make sure to keep giving her bottle so maybe we can avoid a bottle strike.

@Mrs. Jacks: Thank you! I'll check out your post.

@sarbear: I don't think the flow is the issue because she won't even latch onto the bottle. If she was latching on, sucking, then fussing I would probably think flow was the issue.

This is our situation exactly as well.. even TT bottles as well haha. I googled a lot of stuff it said to try giving the bottle in a different position, not the same position that you breast feed in. I was able to get B to take an ounce laying in her swing and an ounce sitting up on the couch. My husbands on holidays this week so we're going to try and give a bottle every day while he's here. I read a ton of people had success with the playtex brown nipples, but like another poster said, they took the TT to start so there's no reason why they can't still take them. Another point was some bottles flow really slow, and now with breast feeding, they're pretty good, so it flows faster. It said to poke a few extra holes in your nipple to help it flow faster.
So I still haven't had success here, but just keep trying.

We tried many bottles during our bottle boot camp and she only will take Playtex with drop in liners. We've been slacking too and didn't give her a bottle for a week and now she screams her head off when we try :( My SIL told me to give a bottle a day so she's used to it and I should have listened!

Good luck! I find that the only way she'll take one is if we get her while she's in a good mood and well before she starts fussing cause she's hungry. But, she also actually has to be hungry. It's so hard to capture the perfect bottle time and also have a bottle warmed and ready to go.

Basically, I hear ya! This is hard!

PREEMIE dr.brown's nipples!!! They are so tiny and slow flow. My son loved them and it got us through many strikes. Ultimately, I chose Avent as our permanent bottles because dr.brown's leaked a lot, but some people never had a problem with that.

I would do a full pumping session into whatever bottle, then just pour one oz at a time intothe bottle you are trying. You can keep it in the fridge for a few days and not have to pump as often as you figure it out.

@Foodnerd81: So after DH tried for 30 minutes I stepped in and tried (figured it was worth a shot) and I totally let her face the tv so she would calm down! I feel like she was trying to take it--like she was trying to latch on but couldn't get a good grasp on it...it kept just slipping and sliding around in her mouth. Then she'd get frustrated and cry.

@purrpletulips: Two of the times she refused I was out of the house. This morning I was in our bedroom with the door closed and DH was in the living room with her. I even started giving her a lovey while she nurses and had DH give it to her while he offers the bottle, but no luck. Does that bottle connect to your pump? I have the Ameda Purely Yours.

@Smurfette: Ugh, I know. So frustrating! I am still hoping she'll take it eventually if we keep working at it. So I should wait 15-20 min from the time DH stops offering til I nurse?

@Corduroy: Yeah, I have poured several ounces down the drain over this! I am not pumping more than an ounce into each bottle until she takes them again.

Do we have the same baby?? Same story hear, right down to the TT bottles! And she wouldn't even take them when I'm out of the house. One thing that's been working is ill feed her on one side, so she isn't starving and angry, but still hungry. Then I give her the bottle and she will protest a little but take it. Or last night I realized that if I let her look at the tv it distracted her enough to take it, grudgingly. Also I didn't realize this but there are different nipples for 3 months- we are still using newborn. The problem started bf she was 3 months though, so I doubt that's the problem.

I also hear the playtex drop ins are really good so I'm going to try then next. It sucks.

When she refuses the bottle, do not nurse until 15-20 mins later. Otherwise she knows if she says no to the bottle, she gets the good stuff.

We struggled with getting R to take a bottle. She refused at her trial run with day care. I was in tears thinking about how she was going to do it. Then the next day, (we took her for another one) and she took it fine. Then the weekend before, we had a bottle boot camp. Everytime it got quicker for her to take the bottle.

The Comotomo bottle did wonders for us when LO went on a bottle strike when I went back to work at 4 months. http://www.amazon.com/Comotomo-Natural-Bottle-Single-Ounces/dp/B004C053AQ

Hugs! My best advice is don't stress.

I went through a serious bottle strike with my LO. I spent most of my maternity leave stressing about it and trying to fix it. In the end, LO started daycare at 4 months without being on the bottle but she got it by day 2. Things I wish I had known:

-Don't give LO full bottles. I wasted about 100oz of milk doing this.
-If you're worried about LO not eating call the pediatrician and run your concerns by them. Mine was fine with LO not eating for 9-10 hours on occasion as long as she was offered a bottle and I gave her lots of access to milk before & after. You can go to dinner, sleep in, or whatever. Your LO may be different but mine didn't fuss for her caregivers unless they tried to give her a bottle.
-If your LO has taken a bottle just fine in the past stick with that one (or a few), don't buy every bottle on the market. I own them all. In the end she took the Medela we started with.
