Thank you! That is a good point about explaining - he definitely understands a lot of what I say so I will try and talk about it lots. He was definitely really hungry though - so stubborn!

I think you're doing the right thing with being consistent but not pressuring. Also at that age I was astonished how much my LO understood when I explained things to him so I'd do lots of talking. And I'd not worry about milk intake. There will be no harm done if he gets a little less for a couple of days especially if you plan to stick to the nighttime bottle for awhile.
Good luck with the transition - I hope he'll catch up to it quickly.

Just looking for a little reassurance on the bottle to straw cup transition from any mamas who have been through this!

This morning I decided to switch DS morning bottle to a straw cup. In hindsight perhaps Monday morning after a challenging weekend was not the best time to start this!

He drinks lots of water happily from a straw cup, so I know he can use it fine. He usually drinks an 8oz bottle in the morning, and this morning he refused to drink more than half an oz of WCM from the straw cup (he was already on WCM in his bottles).

I decided not to give in and offer a bottle, because if he sees this is an option he will go for a battle of wills every time. So I just left him to it and tried not to push it, he got more and more hungry and angry until breakfast time - after which he was fine.

I'm not TOO worried about his milk intake today, he's a yoghurt fiend so I plan on offering extra of that. I also don't plan on messing with his bedtime bottle til we've got this morning one sorted. But I am wondering… is this the end of him drinking milk in the morning?? Will he start drinking more again once he realises he's not going to get the bottle, or will he just learn to hold out til breakfast time? He's a stubborn little dude!

Any opinions/advice very welcome! Sorry it seems to have taken me so much rambling to say very little. Just another classic ftm panic!

ETA he'll be 13 months tomorrow.
