Handwash. My dishwasher never does a good job cleaning things with small openings. I've washed reusable water bottles and they always come out with dried food caked on the insides.

Hand wash.

We don't run the dishwasher daily. And the one time we did try to wash the bottles in the dishwasher, it left a gross film on them and I had to hand wash them again anyway.

@DesertDreams88: it says not to in case they warp. I only have one set and they're too $$ to test it out! I just soak them in a bowl of warm soapy water for a few mins at night and rinse. It's not bad! Totally worth the convenience of them otherwise!

We didn't have a dishwasher for most of LO's first year of life. Hand washing pump parts and bottles was the worst chore ever. Even when we got a dishwasher I had to hand wash most of the time bc we only run it every three days or so and the bottles would often still have a film in them and the small parts would pool with water which didn't seem hygienic to me.

One thing I will definitely do differently when we have baby 2 is have DH do the washing sometimes. I don't know why I just always did it even though I hated it.

I mostly used the dishwasher with DD1 but found that the high fat content of the milk did tend to leave a film on the inside. Even if I rinsed well before loading, it would sometimes be there, but I was FT WOH and didn't want to always deal with handwashing at night, soooo...I did a little of both depending on how lazy I was feeling!

With DD2, I was SAH, so she didn't get bottles nearly as often. I would just handwash and felt they got cleaner.

i mostly handwashed because we had a limited number of bottles and we weren't running the diswasher frequently enough. if i had to do it again, i would just buy more bottles and dishwash them. handwashing bottles was one of those nightly chores that was such a friggin pain in my ass, i wonder if my evenings would have been a little bit more stress free if i had just let go.

For LO1 we used to hand wash. We got a ton of bottles from a friend of ours who bought Dr. Brown's and didn't end up using them for LO2 and we run the dishwasher every day. We got the baskets for them and our dishwasher is newer, so it does a far better job than if we hand washed. Saves us a ton of time.

We use the dishwasher... We were hand washing and sanitizing at first and I was losing my mind because there were so many dishes all the time. My mom convinced me it was worth my sanity to run a dishwasher load every day, whether it's full or not. So, I run a regular load with soap, then I run it again without soap on high heat to sterilize. If our dishwasher was newer, I would run a sterilize cycle after the regular wash. I plan to hand wash and sterilize my pump parts.
