If it makes you feel any better my LO started refusing the bottle at 3 months out of nowhere. I was so worried about him starving at daycare. As it turns out, he took the bottle without a problem when he started. I think being in a completely different place with someone totally different giving the bottle helped a lot.

We did the small (2 oz) bottles when c was refusing it, like others suggested. It hurt less to throw out the milk 2 oz at a time.

Have they tried feeding her in different positions? I finally ended our bottle strike by feeding her in the rock and play or car seat, rather than holding her in my (or dh's) arms.

Definitely send small bottles at first! And hang in there, she will get it! My LO refused bottles at first but within a week of starting daycare, she was taking them like a champ.

@Mrs. Taco: that's what I want to avoid! Throwing out bm is a sin! I'm willing to try great lengths since she only took 1 oz in 4 hrs

@Smurfette: I'm pretty sure that's what ours was too.

She'll be there from 730 to 230 tomorrow!!

My girl fought the bottle like crazy and I insisted that no bottle have more than 2 oz. This wasn't day care though, so I don't know if they'll be open to it. She started taking an oz (with a whole lot of fussing!) And then one day, after crying and crying, she sucked down 7 oz! And now she loves the bottle! Hang in there, it will happen!

@matador84: yea I think the hour rule or for the next feeding is accurate.

And I agree with two ounces bottles you'll waste less.

I know this is going to be really annoying, but when R did that, I sent multiple 2 oz bottles (the small ones that come with the Medela pump). I couldn't stand to have them throw out the BM (which they had to do after an hour).

Hopefully she gets use to it quickly!

Personally, I'd send a bunch of bottles with maybe 2 oz each, all from fresh never frozen milk. That way they have an opportunity to keep offering, and waste can be minimized. It's encouraging that they got him to take that one ounce!

Maybe different bottles? Trying different temperatures could also help.

Okay, so dd (2 months) is refusing a bottle. The tried feeding her for over 20 mins two separate times and she refused. She finally took 1 oz of the 4 in her bottle.

It's milk I pumped that morning and sent to daycare. If she continues to refuse the bottle, I don't want to waste a ton of milk. Should I have them not warm it? What's the best thing to do in this situation?
