@regberadaisy: Logan usually eats every 2-2.5 hours at home, but does 3 hours at daycare. Totally depends on your baby though - you could try sending larger bottles and have them try it for a day and see what happens.

4 bottles while at day care? That seems like a lot.

By 9 months she was on 4 bottles a day and three solids. This is what the pedi wanted. She would pretty much eat every two hours (4 hours between bottles): bottle, breakfast, bottle, lunch, bottle, small snack to tide over to dinner, dinner, and bottle before bed.

@regberadaisy: Yes. For a while, he was only taking 2-3 ounces each because he was full on solids (he's a good eater!) But only taking 6-10 ounces a day is not enough! We told them we really want him to take 10-12 at least!

@T.H.O.U.: just 3.5 ounces each though! I am wondering if I should consolidate to 3 bottles too. But I'm afraid she won't eat more at one sitting and there will be waste.

@regberadaisy: Four bottles! Wow!

We were having trouble getting him to finish 3 now that he's on solids.

@regberadaisy: Here was our "schedule"

6am - nurse
7:15ish - solids at DCP
9/9:30am - bottle
12pm - bottle and then offer solids
3pm - bottle then offer solids (usually a snack to work on pincher grip)

at home I would nurse ands wait 30 mins to offer solids but didn't do that at DCP

@MamaG: yeah, that's what we did with DD1 and there was never an issue! I don't know why they're f-ing it up this time. It's probably the new filler staff and they're not conveying our instructions to them. But it's up on the whiteboard now so hopefully it won't be an issue any more. Last couple times she was screaming in the car on the way home because she didn't get her fourth bottle. NOT cool!

@Mamaof2: LOL OK so I didn't want to post a long drawn out post. Basically there is a misunderstanding where they thought we wanted them to replace a bottle with solids. I have no idea why because we told them 3x. Finally I talked to the front office and now that's all figured out. But after looking at her sheet I can see how it's hard to fit in all 4 bottles AND solids in the time frame that she's at daycare.
I prefer to do solids 30 minutes after bottles because we have her on a 2.5 hour schedule which is more like her nursing schedule.
I thought about putting more in a bottle and doing 3 bottles versus 4 bottles while she's at daycare. But personally I want to keep the feeding as close to nursing as possible and that's just not how she nurses at home.

Anyway, just curious if others consolidated bottles or kept the time between bottles exactly the same and offered solids in between a feeding. The latter is what I'm going to have them do. Keep the same bottle feeding schedule and offered solids about 30 minutes after the 2nd bottle of the day. If she doesn't eat all the solids I don't really care because I want her major nutrition to be from her bottles.

I gave them free reign to find a schedule that works for her/them. She's getting fed once per day currently and it tends to be sometime between 10:00 - 1:00. I haven't really paid that close of attention to the timing relative to a bottle. But she's still drinking the same bottles.

@Adira: nope - I'm not worried about whether she will eat it all. She's a chunker! More about timing.

So far Logan has just start solids and is only getting it once a day at daycare. Regardless of when they feed him, he still sucks down the same amount of milk as always! If you're concerned though, you could instruct them to only feed solids roughly an hour after a bottle to ensure she doesn't get filled up on solids before a bottle.

We never had an issue with Xander and solids - he loved his bottles and would down them regardless of how much solids he was eating.

How did your LO's (under 12m) bottle intake change, if at all, after starting solids?

I really do not want solids to replace bottle intake while she's at daycare. But I'm trying to find a good medium where they can offer her solids around lunch time but still fit in the same total ounces throughout the day.

What did you do at daycare when your child started solids?
