@DesertDreams88: You can just use a blanket as well. That's what we did. She slept better with her legs out (and straight up in the air) to help her fart easier. 😄

@Torchwood: I was about to reply that I can only do that with his 2 smallest swaddles that he's about to grow out of, but never mind, you've inspired a lightbulb! I could use the inverted zipper on his swaddles to unswaddle on the bottom :) And it's starting to get warmer here so removing a layer doesn't matter as much.

Can you do an arms only swaddle? Then you can buckle.

@DesertDreams88: also it won't hurt him if he slides down, he will just be uncomfortable and cry out for you.

@skipper2010: is there some kind of trick to swaddling and buckling? Because when he's in a swaddle, you can't buckle him in correctly.... I guess I could try "pointing" him into one leg hole of the buckle

@Foodnerd81: good point about slipping out! He definitely makes a fair amount of noise before he starts kicking significantly, so long as he sticks with that, any caregiver would probably go to him before he slipped out. Also, at night he sleeps in the rnp, in the day he naps in the bouncer. Good clarification :-)

I think he is more likely to slide down off the bottom than roll off the bouncer. My LO has done that while awake, she kicks so hard that she slips down until her butt is on the floor. Oops. I can't imagine her rolling off though. I wouldn't worry about it for naps yet. I think you will notice when he is getting close. I'd be more concerned for overnight since you would be asleep and not notice him moving.

I think the advice on when to stop swaddling is once they start rolling over or around 4 months. I wouldn't stop swaddling in anticipation of him rolling over though. I would just wait until he does. For peace of mind though I would probably have him buckled in bc you just never know.

My LO is 2 mo old and naps exclusively in his bouncer, swaddled and thus not buckled in. The bouncing puts him to sleep like magic and I can easily extend his naps with little bounces if need be. He has never rolled over .... Yet. At what point should I stop swaddling him and/or letting him sleep in his bouncer unsupervised/unbuckled in case he rolls over/ out? Or is this just a crazy FTM worry?

We plan to move him to his crib when he's 4 months, bc DH and I will be home on summer break and can deal with sleep loss from any aspect of sleep training ( and yes I'm aware the 4 mo sleep regression might totally f up this plan...)
