We read a lot about trains, airplanes, and moon missions around here. :) The nonfiction section is great for this type of reading. (I also like Ezra Jack Keats!)</p> <p>As for boyish fiction, I like 'Lentil' by Robert McCloskey, 'The Little Airplane' and 'The Little Train' by Lois Lenski. Also, 'Harold and the Purple Crayon'! A number of Tomie DePaola's books feature male characters, too. I'm also a big Seuss fan. 'And To Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street' is one of my favorites, and it features a boy. </p> <p>There are plenty of series aimed at older boys--ahem, Harry Potter (!), The Hobbit, etc--so I'm not too concerned about LO getting left out of series books just because he's a boy. I think most of the books we have for preschoolers were actually mine, and with the exception of 'Angelina Ballerina' I don't find them exceptionally girly. And who am I kidding, I totally read 'Angelina' to LO once and a while! ;) It's about following your dreams and hard work!
